Positives

We gave them a game.
Barnes looks really up for it.

Negatives

Arsenal really are becoming a bogey team. Quite like Spurs but hate them and their moaning fans.

Jay Rod was fairly anonymous.

Conselaton

Fairly confidant Arsenal will win nothing this year.

Watched on BT
Could not see any negatives
Everyone played well and no weak links
Had more attempts than Arsenal

All pulled together for the cause.
Defensively sound.
Offensively much better than normal on away days to top 6 sides, even when we've got results.

positives: We got narrowly beaten by fielding a team that cost south of 50 million I would guess
negatives: We got narrowly beaten by a team that cost north for 300 million I would guess

VAR will be a positive for us. Their disallowed goal might have stood for them in previous years.

Pope kicking poor first
Lowton poor first half
2 very soft goals given to them.
Pieters too close to striker
JBG list ball in a dangerous area

My only gripe is that at times I see us play with a kind of fear of not being caught out which tends to put more pressure on us 15 seconds later. We know we're more than capable of sensible building when we're not panicky so to get the panick inducing moments under control would allow us to play and create more.

Overall though, I'm happy with today's performance, we really look like a proper top flight team and have done for the entirety of the year, competing well with the best sides in world football never loses its magic.

I thought we were pretty good but still room for improvement. A respectable result.

I thought we looked very fit. Really good high press at 2-1.

Mcneil had a poor game by his high standards

How would it have stood when the linesman had his flag up?

I mentioned in pre season that the team had a much fresher feel to it, and that was on show today. Had we been playing Southampton today, it would’ve been another 3-0 - the mistakes we made wouldn’t have been punished by a much lesser side. It’s disappointing the mistakes we made, could’ve done much better in those situations, but this was a really positive performance all told.

Positives: We were very close to an expensively assembled, nailed on top 6 side away from home.
Negatives: Crossing, 2 soft goals, lack of calmness when good opportunities were opening up.

The only difference was there midfielder Ceballos who played brilliantly, Barnes was an handful and thought Cork played well.

Positives: a very positive and energetic display in the first half
Just ran out of legs in second half, but high pressure line against a team that retained possession better in second half costs plenty of energy.

Slight negative: sloppy ball loss by JBG for their second, but overall they deserved a narrow victory.

We're looking better than last season, and we're giving the big boys a run for their money

Positives we have players like Lennon, Rodriguez, Hendrick, Gibson, Taylor, Hart waiting in the wings who can all come on and influence a game or step up if needed.

We have never had such a high quality back up.

The problem is that 2 of those came on and we looked poorer for it.

Can't really complain about anything there - away to a nailed-on top six side, took the game to them in the first half and created more chances.

You can point to individual errors but they were so marginal. Pieters gets too close because he'd been caught square-on from the previous ball in. For the second Lowton is trying to play his way out because we needed to get a hold of the ball and try and take the play away from our penalty area.

There are only going to be 10/12 games out of 38 where we have those levels to contend with and for long periods today we matched Arsenal in all departments. First half for all their quality on the ball we were the more effective team who posed a greater threat.

What you can't counter is when a £72M striker comes off the bench at half-time.

If we can maintain that kind of level throughout the season not only will we be fine but there's a decent chance we'll be good to watch too.

If we can improve our final ball into the box then we’d have beat them.

Don't know if I'm misremembering one attack as two separate attacks, but there was an instance where Lennon's pace opened up a decent chance, and another where JRod was positioned for a tap in. (It was intercepted.) Neither were massively influential and they weren't overtly apparent, but they didn't do nothing, either. Chasing the game away to Arsenal, you forgive them (to a degree) for being unable to turn the game, but I'd hope those chances would produce goals against lesser organised teams and poorer defenders.

Positives were the team work in keeping us in the match, some good pressure at the Arsenal end as well.
Pope showed we won't miss Tom, so long as he stays fit.
Ash showed, again, what a true premier league striker he is.

Negatives, some of the deliveries were really poor when we were in good positions. Lowton was the worst culprit but not the only one.
The lack of an out when we are under the cosh. So many hacked clearances that just came straight back at us. We need a pacy player staying up the pitch, or a midfielder who can pick up the ball and run with it.
We never have anyone on the edge of the box to pick up knock downs from corners and free kicks. The number of times that Arsenal headed the ball to the edge of their box and no Claret shirts there to pick up the pieces

Quibbles on a good team effort. We are a work in progress and probably will be for the next few seasons. Proud of them today.

Positive; team spirit, it counts for a lot.
Negatives; midfield which will shortly be strengthened.

I said to my son at the game that around 20 years ago there was a small piece in the London Evening Standard which said that Arsenal had just sold their millionth replica shirt. At the time I thought how on earth does a team like Burnley compete with that. But as dsr alluded to above, we did and almost got a draw.
