Re: RATE THE REF - Mike Dean v Arsenal
I’ll probably get criticised this week for over rating the referee but some of our refs would be well advised to watch the likes of Dean in action.

Re: RATE THE REF - Mike Dean v Arsenal
Watched full match on TV only so can't award scores but he seemed to be in complete control and didn't seem to get anything wrong.
Barnes must have been close to a red card at the end with his continued dissent, but Dean called it correctly at that stage of the game.

We love him when we win,
We love him when we lose,
Tranmere had a good win,
I bet he's on the booze.

Re: RATE THE REF - Mike Dean v Arsenal
My criticism last week was that certain posters were giving low marks when clearly many marked that referee highly.
This smacks of agenda against certain referees by a small clique of posters, whether these posters want to accept that or not

Re: RATE THE REF - Mike Dean v Arsenal
When you bear in mind that we lost so for the referee to be given top marks by everyone just goes to show that Mike Dean is a top class referee and arguably the best there is right now

Some of his decisions, in part down to his positioning were totally baffling. You can tell the sheff utd game is now over ten years ago. If hes the best we have then its no wonder vars been brought in.
Should have sent barnes off at the end too. Stupid foul and stupid antics after.

Re: RATE THE REF - Mike Dean v Arsenal
Today is one of the first times I can remember applauding the ref and I did it a couple of times. In one incident there was a foul, he waited to see if there was an advantage (there wasn’t) and then gave us a free kick.

One of the very best we have, would happily have him every week
Sadly he's only one of a few who perform very highly mire often than not.

Re: RATE THE REF - Mike Dean v Arsenal
Fantastic referee. Scott wasn't exactly terrible last week but when you compare his game to how effortless Dean officiated this game it's no wonder that some get frustrated and mark low. I always feel safe that the outcome will not be determined by the ref when Dean is in the middle and today was no exception.

Really? Way past his best. And nowhere near the levels we used to get with the likes of Uriah Rennie, Jeff Winter, Paul Alcock and David Ellery.ClaretTony wrote:Staggered by those marks, absolutely staggered.

Rate the Ref is a good feature that John has been running for a number of years. Please don't ruin it with your nonsensical marks and comments.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Really? Way past his best. Tony. I respect that it’s an excellent feature. But surely thats purely down to the difference of opinions.ClaretTony wrote:Rate the Ref is a good feature that John has been running for a number of years. Please don't ruin it with your nonsensical marks and comments.
I’ve given Dean what I see as a fair score. And in fact scored him way higher than you scored graham Scott last week who had a bloody good game in very tough circumstances.
Please apologise.

Re: RATE THE REF - Mike Dean v Arsenal
How he let them get away with so much diving nd timewasting yet gets 25s on here is beyond me! The time Toreira and Leno went down was a joke!
Re: RATE THE REF - Mike Dean v Arsenal
He didn’t. He played almost an extra two minutes on top of added time. Very few refs would have done that at a “big club “cricketfieldclarets wrote:How he let them get away with so much diving nd timewasting yet gets 25s on here is beyond me! The time Toreira and Leno went down was a joke!

Re: RATE THE REF - Mike Dean v Arsenal
Before singling my ratings last week for Scott, you might wish to look at the other ratings and see how low many others rated him. Then look at Dean's today. As I said, no respect for the feature at all.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Tony. I respect that it’s an excellent feature. But surely thats purely down to the difference of opinions.

Gave too many petty free kicks for the diving (not just for Arsenal, though they did more of it) but as the laws of the game as universally interpreted mean that a tiny push is a foul when you fall over, not a foul when you don't, it's hard to blame the ref for that.

Only saw the game on tv so not able to rate Mike Dean. I thought he had a good game. He's the type of ref who is always liable to have a "look at me" moment but I thought today he controlled the game, and himself, very well. The PL could do with more refs of his calibre.

Re: RATE THE REF - Mike Dean v Arsenal
Not a big fan of Dean but he did well yesterday.
The amount of time wasting that goes on is frustrating, time keeping should be taken out of the on field refs hands though.
