Car dint

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Sat Aug 17, 2019 4:01 pm

Anyone know approx how much and where you can get this sorted?

Some nice folk about. Someone twatted a trolley into back of my car while in supermarket and not left a note or anything.

Cheers

Sabden Motor Bodies in Clitheroe do a great job and don’t cost too much.

Chipsaway no idea of cost (would depend on dent size etc ...)

Depends how serious it is. Mine got dinged at Tesco in Burnley, small dent and looked like lacquer scratched. I went up to Summit Bodywork up Manchester Road (these are great for major work). They gave me details of a guy for small dings. I've got his card in my car and I'll post it on here when I get back to it. He is a mobile service, did it at my home, £30 from memory and a great job.

Google What Dent PDR if the paint isn't broken. A local lad called Anthony. He's brilliant at what he does.

Paints not too badly damaged but a small dent. Annoying though.

Just get your plunger out the bathroom and pull it out.

My advice is don’t take a high value car or lease car to the supermarket. Plenty of cars with child car seats in the back where the owners are clumsy and drive off. If it is one of these type of cars get it repaired properly or a buyer or lease checker will be able to tell.

Just been over for 3 days and hired. Brother-in-law was out walking his dog and saw some muppet catch the offside front bumper, then shoot off before he could get the number. Thankfully the bumper sprung back into shape and the scratches T-Cut out but two thumbnail size flakes off paint came off, down to the metal. Took it back in the rain and I’ve had my excess refunded. Got lucky but there are some right juan kerrs out there.

Check first with the supermarket to see if they have anything on CCTV, you'll be able to give them a rough idea of when you entered the car park and when you left.

Just had a closer inspection. Whoever it was has drove down back of it. All bumpers marked and its the width of a car bumper so seemingly not a trolley after all. *******.

It happened before in my last car at manchester road train station. They refused to give me cctv amd said only the police can request it.

Who's your insurer?

Some allow you to keep your no claims bonuses if it's been vandalised. Could go down that route of a claim.

Bit dodgy maybe but better than spending a literal fortune on bodywork. Can cost hundreds or even thousands.

I dinged a guys bumper in Tesco last year and stayed behind to explain the situation and sorted it out bug it cost me £600 and it was hardly noticeable. And I suggested the body shop to go to too.

Honesty is apparently the best policy.

I would say it is. And you did the right thing. Whether it cost you £600 or not.

Had someone look at it who works at James Alpe and said he should be able to do it for under £100.

I've known some agree to look at it but since data protection came to the forefront more are insisting it's the Police. You could go to the Police yourself and explain your car has been damaged and ask them to request they look at the cctv. Ive noted since though you may be able to get the car repaired for around a £100 so you may decide not to bother.
