Jon Walters

Post by wilks_bfc » Sun Aug 18, 2019 12:23 pm

Just caught him on Goals on Sunday explaining what happened during his final year with us.

Explained that whilst in Cork on preseason, his elder brother died, his wife suffered a miscarriage & his daughter was diagnosed with scoliosis in the space of a week.

Know he’s opened up about his personal life previously but hadn’t realised so much had happened in short space of time

Edited: misheard the diagnosis of his daughter

It was a tough watch and Jon did very well to get through the interview as he did.

Yes.

He had it really rough, in such a short space of time.

And yet people continued to lay in on a lad that had done nothing wrong but get injured.

Sad. Especially when many knew he did have problems.

Scoliosis -- curvature of the spine. Can be alleviated either by surgery, physiotherapy or more likely a combination of the two.

First time I've seen that. What a difficult watch. Poor guy.

He'd opened up during his time at Burnley to Tony Livesey about losing his mum when he was very young. That interview was a tough one to listen to and I didn't know that Tony himself had gone through exactly the same thing as Jon Walters.

What hit him last summer came to light fairly recently when he did an interview on Irish television and it was linked on here.

Whatever you might have thought of him as a footballer, whatever you might wish to criticise the signing, you can't be anything but moved listening to him speak about such personal things.

A gamble that went wrong its life.
