Divers
Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.
Did anybody notice any diving yesterday or was SD just getting back on his hobby horse?
Not that I don’t agree with him. I’d castrate them and it would stop overnight.

Re: Divers
I dont think we have enough back up in the striker department to contemplate castrating Ashley Barnes
Re: Divers
There was a couple of occasions when the Arsenal players went down very easily, but we have had far worse than yesterday
Re: Divers
Barbara Dickson in their midfield definitely dived at least once yesterday

Re: Divers
I wouldn't have said it was particularly bad tbh. Not really sure where Dyche was coming from yesterday.
Re: Divers
This is just one of the things SD was talking about.
Aubameyang went down cluching his leg after a tackle in the 1st half, and laid there for fully 5+ seconds.
When Mike Dean didn't bring the game to a halt, and Burnley had the ball, he got up and for someone with an "injury" with no sign of a limp or anything, he sprinted remarkably up the wing into his own half.... so called ankle injury completely forgotten.
Call me a cynic but.... if you have been hurt as Aubameyang reckoned he was when he went down as if shot.... then the minimum you would expect is at least limp, but to break into a sprint like he did .. then it is trying to deceive the Ref, and that is just what SD alludes to week in week out.

Someone fell done and stopped our final attack...and got Ashley Barnes booked. That was a win win win.

Re: Divers
It's obviously something Sean wanted to put back on the agenda and a live TV game gave him the opportunity to do it.
There were maybe a couple of examples yesterday, but nothing that was too bad. Certainly nothing that had an impact on the result.
He's right to continue to highlight it as in issue but to the neutral observer it would have looked a bit odd to use yesterday's game as an example.

No. That was a foul and Bashley ruined our last opportunity. Pulled him back then dumped him.IanMcL wrote:Someone fell done and stopped our final attack...and got Ashley Barnes booked. That was a win win win.

Re: Divers
For me, Torreira was the worst of the lot. From the second he came on, he seemed to spend the majority of his time rolling around claiming he’d been seriously hurt when he’d barely been touched. It was quite clearly an instruction from the bench as he was a substitute. ‘Clever Game Management’ is how it’s generally viewed amongst the pundits.
Likewise an incident where their keeper and a player went down because they brushed against each other.

Re: Divers
Got to say when I watched it, i thought that it was impeding the progress of an opponent as the Arsenal player ran from a side angel to get in front of Barnes when the ball was nowhere near and Barnes reacted as you said to this, but if referee had seen it fully I think he would have said free kick to us or just a coming together but all he saw was Barnes man handle him, he went down easy though i think that and when the keeper and defender collided and both held the wrong leg arm as being injured, small things but delays the game and we are crap at that.

Re: Divers
Aubameyang was milking things as was the Spanish turd Cebelos (spelling i know) The sub they brought on seemed to just throw himself to the floor like some Shakespearean actor .Can’t blame Dyche at all for being p1ssed off by their cheating and gamesmanship . I’d be amazed if they get anywhere near the top 4 their playing out from the back was laughable

Dear Sean...One of the best divers was Harry Potts...well known for falling just outside the penalty area and getting the penalty.

Don't you mean inside the penalty areaRodleydave wrote:Dear Sean...One of the best divers was Harry Potts...well known for falling just outside the penalty area and getting the penalty.
Penalties should not be awarded for something "outside" the area

Ceballos first half think Cork left a leg out and slightest of touches, he seemed to stop and then do an half twist somersault and nobody picked it up

No, the Burnley bench saw it and marked him 9 out of 10 for style!CnBtruntru wrote:Ceballos first half think Cork left a leg out and slightest of touches, he seemed to stop and then do an half twist somersault and nobody picked it up
Re: Divers
You could make the argument that our blatant time wasting isn't really in the spirit of the game either.

Re: Divers
Apparently if VAR catches someone ( or maybe it was the ref )diving they can only award a yellow card
It was discussed on Talksport this morning.
Should be a red card and a ban for a few matches.it would soon stop it.

VAR not used for diving, unless it's to overturn a penalty given. Can't give yellows either. The Enclosure wrote:Apparently if VAR catches someone ( or maybe it was the ref )diving they can only award a yellow card

It must be the ref then that can only award a yellow for a blatant dive.....still not right.simonclaret wrote:VAR not used for diving, unless it's to overturn a penalty given. Can't give yellows either.

Re: Divers
Luiz had one where he was lying on the ground in absolute agony, unable to move, and yet when the ref asked him if he needed the trainer he said no. Obviously shamming.
They ought to make the rule that when a player says he doesn't need the trainer, that's his chance. Game restarts straight away. If he still isn't ready, tough. And players who do need the trainer don't get waved straight back on, especially if the ref knows they're shamming.
And especially specially, any player who goes down screaming in paid has to leave the field for 10 minutes to be checked out. I know what it takes for a professional sportsman to scream in pain, from watching rugby, and if being jumped on and flattened by 40 stone of rugby players (more than one player!) isn't enough to cause a scream of pain, then footballers can stop being such pansies.
