Talk Sport
Been listening to TS a bit yesterday evening and again this morning - don't know why. Does anyone else think it is really sh!te? A bunch of self-proclaimed so-called football experts who seem to talk about very little other than the big six and get all heated about the way they think football should be played. All this interspersed with crappy adverts and an absolutely dreadful sound (haven't they heard of FM)? What is this radio channel about, it's like listening to some thing from the 70's.

Re: Talk Sport
Yeah it gets a regular mention on here from people who clearly don't like it but listen to it anyway to confirm they don't like it.
Same with people who complain about a newspaper that doesn't go along with their views but they continue to read it anyway.
It's self flagellation I suppose.

Re: Talk Sport
It depends when you listen. Danny Kelly’s European football show is great, and I also like Max and Barry on a Sunday morning.
But if you listen to Alan Brazil (when he decides to turn up) or Adrian and Goughy then I agree with your original post. Oh, and the less said about Jim White, the better.

Only if a Burnley match is broadcast live on there which sometimes happens but otherwise I find the adverts just annoying every 10 seconds or so.

Re: Talk Sport
Drivetime was a good listen on a Monday’s especially if there had been an upset over the weekend just to hear Durham cast his net and see how many he caught
H&J has got a little dated & “samey” over the years
The only decent listen was Collymore & Saggers.
Always found it a balanced discussion and that they were willing to listen to what people were saying

The best show was Colin Murray who I discovered on Friday has now pitched up on 5 Live's midday show. I'll be tuning into that.

The only times i’ve purposely listened to Talk Sport are when Burnley are the commentary game and on that fateful day when we announced Brian Laws as manager. I was out and about and the news was imminent and I thought TS was the best option for hearing it first. I wish I hadn’t bothered; I still remember the feeling of gut-wrenching disappointment.

Re: Talk Sport
there was a brilliant section last night with Simon Jordan and Keith Hackett talking about VAR. Talksport has some really good content if you don't listen to Adrian Durham. Now, with the time difference I never listen to any of the daytime shows so can't fairly comment on them

I have it on fairly regularly if I'm in the car for the odd 15/20 minutes. There's a load of rubbish but if you want to listen to a bit of sports chat it serves a purpose. I always find Simon Jordan very interesting to listen to and Max and Barry's show on a Sunday morning is really entertaining.

My Friend is the producer of fight night, gameday with Laura Woods and worked on Sports bar so i might be biased, but I personally like more than I hate on the station. As someone earlier mentioned, Danny Kelly's Trans-European express show on Sundays is excellent. Enjoy the warm up with Max and Barry, H&J, Fight Night and some of Sports bar.
I tend not to listen during the day as it's the usual sensationalism and/or top 6. Every monday for the season will be about VAR.

Collymore was sacked because of multiple warnings over his behaviour. Alot of staff, including presenters from talksport have mentioned it both on air and on social media in the past.wilks_bfc wrote:I'd forgotten about Murray.

Re: Talk Sport
When I had it on in the car this morning it was because it was still on from last night and I couldn't be bothered to switch to my phone for itunes. I don't know the running order but it was some Scottish bloke (could it have been Brazil) and it was really just a few (or was it only 2) blokes seeing who could talk the loudest. They started talking about cricket eventually and that was my cue to switch off. Cricket talk is for me a cure for insomnia and BAD cricket talk is suicide time.

It was the biggest idiot of them all, Dean Saunders with Alan Brazil this morning. When he works with Mike Parry and Ally McCoist (Brazil that is) it is one of the most entertaining things on Talksport.houseboy wrote:When I had it on in the car this morning it was because it was still on from last night and I couldn't be bothered to switch to my phone for itunes. Re: Talk Sport
Cannot stand Durham and goughy, Durham just picks something semi controversial and argues like mad about it, goughy is a boring yorkshire t***. H&J are quite good. I used to enjoy listening to collymore, the guy is a tosser but he showed a bit of passion and didn't have his tongue constantly stuck up the big 6's back end.
Danny Murphy is one of my favourite pundits, gives a good insight into the life of a footballer and he stole a wage off them down the road as an added bonus

Re: Talk Sport
It was ok for a while about 15 years ago (Hawksby and Jacobs were entertaining), but it's firmly gone down the "say something controversial to wind-up some imbeciles" road.
It may well have decent discussions on there still but I gave up listening to it years ago. Much prefer picking and choosing podcasts.

He and Burnley football club are an easy target for lazy punditry. We don't spend a lot of money, we generally play effective football which can be a bit boring and we aren't full of foreigners. Theres an old fashioned ness about us (in a good way.) Durham and other pundits skim through a few headlines and highlights and attack us with them. Good pundits who understand the game and aren't obsessed with the top 6 understand the hardwork that goes into keeping our club where it is.Vegas Claret wrote:Durham is a ****, never heard him say a good word about Dyche, it's so bad I reckon something has gone on between them
