Different kind of noise when that went in.
A collective shriek.
What a night.

Amazing night!! I'm not even a betting chap, but weirdly I ALMOST put a random bet on us on our way to the ground. If I had we'd definitely have lost!!

No..I was referring to them catching us up after the play off finals and their First win yesterday... Was unaware of the Manu connection.Tall Paul wrote:Not sure if serious.

Re: First ever Premier League win - ten years ago today
I was looking to see if I could find my match report but alas no - I do recall including a line at the bottom referring to a mate of mine asking me as we left the Turf: "Does it get any better than this," and my reply was: "Yes". - He'd never seen us beat Blackburn. He has now.
But that was an amazing night - a wonderful goal from the brilliant Robbie, a penalty save from the Beast and holding out. Even Andre Bikey, on his debut, looked good.

I've actually got a good record watching us at Ewood - been to 14 league games there and seen us win 8, draw 2 and lose 4tim_noone wrote:I've Been watching Burnley nearly as long as you.. And I've Never seen us Beat Blackburn Live

Back in "The Day" it was all about beating Leeds and man utd for me. Blackburn were always below us that's why the fixture never interested me...I was tempted to see Coventry gain promotion in 67/8 out of mischief.ClaretTony wrote:I've actually got a good record watching us at Ewood - been to 14 league games there and seen us win 8, draw 2 and lose 4

Leeds were second division in my early days. My first away game was at Ewood and was the first of those defeats. We won six and drew one of the next seven though.tim_noone wrote:Back in "The Day" it was all about beating Leeds and man utd for me. Re: First ever Premier League win - ten years ago today
But back to the thread - and that night ten years ago remains as one of the special nights on the Turf for me. I’d given up any hope of us ever getting back up there and to start by by beating United was amazing.

From our seats upstairs in the Long Side, we were looking right over Robbie's shoulder as the ball dropped to him. And, of course, a brilliant view of it rocketing into the net.
Great occasion.

Must admit, when we got relegated at the end of that season I never thought we'd get back.
I suspect I'm not the only one who thought the same.
But look at us now.

10 Years Ago Tonight
Burnley 1 - 0 Manchester United
Probably my favourite night as a Burnley fan. That goal, than penalty save, that atmosphere. Seeing my small town team not only compete against Premier League superstars like Rooney and Giggs, but beat them. I never thought I'd see the day.
