If they're still together at lunch tomorrow who cares,at least England have a chance which at 11 o'clock this morning they didn't.Hibsclaret wrote:It’s like watching Geoff Boycott and Chris Tavare....
I quite liked watching Boycott & Tavare bat they played test cricket like test match openers, built big innings,I think that is the meaning of a Testtiger76 wrote:If they're still together at lunch tomorrow who cares,at least England have a chance which at 11 o'clock this morning they didn't.
That's exactly why Ben Stokes has to bat at 5 he knows how to build an innings,so what he scored 2 runs in a hour, doesn't matter he's not out overnight that's the important thing.

Time in this match doesn't matter.if you stay in the runs will come,England bat 3 sessions tomorrow,or the better part of 3 sessions they win the match.Steve1956 wrote:I quite liked watching Boycott & Tavare bat they played test cricket like test match openers, built big innings,I think that is the meaning of a Test

The atmosphere sounded great, maybe due to yorkies sipping copious amounts of Isla Negratiger76 wrote:Time in this match doesn't matter.if you stay in the runs will come,England bat 3 sessions tomorrow,or the better part of 3 sessions they win the match.
Everyone has to chip in down the order to give England any hope, but the pitch still looks decent, the new ball will be vital,if at lunch England are only 4/5 wickets down it's very much game on.
What pleased me today was the batsman valued their wicket,it took good bowling to prise them out, more of the same tomorrow and even if Australia go on to win they'll have had to earn it.
The crowd realised it would be a tough day for the batters and even applauded solid defensive shots, being positive doesn't mean clattering 4's all the time, you can be positive by showing a straight bat and rotating the strike, which England did much better today, don't forget they've only got 3 quick's,and they can't keep steaming in,hence why the spinners bowled a fair number of overs today.
The atmosphere picked up mid-afternoon once Root got in,if you think it was loud today just imagine tomorrow if Root scores 150+ and leads England to a famous win.Steve1956 wrote:The atmosphere sounded great, maybe due to yorkies sipping copious amounts of Isla Negra

Head agrees, the heart says we’ll bat through and record a famous yet lucky victory.MACCA wrote:I love the optimism, but if we are being brutally honest the usual England collapse will happen, and we will be lucky if we are still watching any cricket come 14:00 Sunday.
Simply not good enough.
Let you take your own booze in though!Dark Cloud wrote:I've been a couple of times and the atmosphere at Lords definitely is different and very much more subdued. Yeah wasnt it at Lords where the Pope made an appearance with 50 odd of his cardinals. Crowd seemed to like it but then the camera panned to all the stiffs and they looked far from impressedDark Cloud wrote:I've been a couple of times and the atmosphere at Lords definitely is different and very much more subdued. That's true. I stand corrected. I remembered seeing that, but couldn't remember if it was at Lords.Cleveleys_claret wrote:Yeah wasnt it at Lords where the Pope made an appearance with 50 odd of his cardinals. Here's hoping, although I'll be torn though if we are still batting at 16.30...box_of_frogs wrote:Head agrees, the heart says we’ll bat through and record a famous yet lucky victory.

And hope you get dropped about four times. That always helps.FCBurnley wrote:Well LavatoryChain or whatever he is called has shown exactly how to bat in test cricket. No risks. Leave every ball you don’t need to play. Don’t worry about scoring. Take the shine off the ball. Hit the odd bad ball and pick up singles when you can. Let’s see if England have learned from him
Indeed. Plucky show today, but it will be over by lunchtime tomorrow.Local cricketer wrote:Still the hope that kills you
I wasnt meaning to correct you. Even the commentators couldnt believe that they had been allowed in. On radio five they were saying they must have smuggled the clothes in as they wouldnt have been allowed entry if they arrived like thatDark Cloud wrote:That's true. I stand corrected. It's harder, and the seam is more proud.Claretmatt4 wrote:Is the reason that a new ball is dangerous purely because it will be more unpredictable and move more when it hasn't been knocked in? Genuine question.
Cheers Andy! Makes senseAndyClaret wrote:It's harder, and the seam is more proud.
It does seem to be in the mindset of English batsmen that every now and again they get too greedy and can't help themselves and go for the big one!tiger76 wrote:Absolute madness from Root there,3 overs till the new ball and he does that
If the Aussies end up with a new one today o don’t think it will be ripped. More likely to be very slowly and painstakingly peeled away.Bosscat wrote:Come on England lets rip the Aussies a new one today
Is that in just this series or at their all at international level?wembley94 wrote:Win or Lose.change to the batting needed.any one with less than a batting average of 40.should not feel safe
