To be fair, VAR upheld the refs call in both cases.Goalposts wrote:well var is more inconsistent than refs..the tackle on silva not given today quite clearly stood on his foot ,,,and the one against pieters which is less obvious is...a joke

Feels like a loss that we surrendered to them in that second half you would have thought we had the match in mid week

I don't think VAR has overtunerd a ref decision yet this season as to pen or no pen, ManU had two l nailed on pens denied. Clearly the decision was made not to make the refs look bad this season and back them in anything the ref says they saw.Goalposts wrote:well var is more inconsistent than refs..the tackle on silva not given today quite clearly stood on his foot ,,,and the one against pieters which is less obvious is...a joke
So in a way they're being consistent in thier refusal to use the power / tech they have.

Re: Wolves Imports versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Wolves were lucky to get a point, although we were wide open at the back post not long before (Wolves tired legs from Europe?)
Feels abit crap the way they got the leveller, but still a very respectful away point imo.

It's a bloody waste of 2 points we thoroughly deserved, but it isn't the first time we've lost our heads in added time, and it has to bloody stop. We should be delighted with a point, but after that performance, and the timing and circumstances of the equaliser, it feels like a real kick in the nuts.
Dyche could go in the dressing room and tell them how well we played for 85 mins, but I hope he goes in and rips them a new one for chucking away 2 points. The chances to put it to bed, have to be taken, or at least one of them. The sitting deeper, the later the game goes, they have to learn from it. which they obviously didn't do last season.

VAR is supposed to make sure those pens aren't given. What is the point of it? If that's a pen I've done with football, one of the softest I've ever seen given!

Re: Wolves Imports versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Pieters got too tight on Lacazette and was turned costing us a goal against Arsenal and I’d have to see it again but looks like he’s done the same here whilst lunging at the ball.
A bit of a soft penalty but you always run a risk if you don’t get to the ball first in those situations.

Going on the Turf since 83, if that was at the other end I would have expected a penalty. Keep your petty veiled insults and go calm down Rick, it's a penalty and was correctly given. I'm more concerned how we were only one up, we missed so many chances, great point in the scheme of things but a gift missed imhoRick_Muller wrote:Do they play football in Vegas? Wolves player already down, no control of ball, already lost footing, then Pieters foot catches his foot. NEVER A PENALTY

Re: Wolves Imports versus MIGHTY CLARETS
We took some of the pressure off them up front by replacing Barnes and that resulted in more pressure on us at the back, although they did surge forward towars the end.
Pieters was a bit unlucky, Jiminez had to be at full stretch to pick up the penalty grabbing clip
Disappointing because we fully deserved all three points. On the upside, the lads played really well and a point is a point.

Re: Wolves Imports versus MIGHTY CLARETS
On the 2nd half display we didn't really deserve to win. A point is still pretty reasonable though. As said above we totally lost the midfield. Also the forwards lost the ability to hold up the ball. Would've been an ideal to bring on Drinkwater for the last 20 mins to sort of bolster things up so to speak.
Re: Wolves Imports versus MIGHTY CLARETS
I would have wanted a penalty and by the rules it is a penalty, although he has played for it in the overstretched leg which he was never going to do anything with.We tired after 80 minutes, and I have no idea where the extra 5 minutes came from considering only 2 extra minutes at half time. I would have taken a point before kick off but now feels like a loss.
Re: Wolves Imports versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Pawson was clearly gonna play until wolves scored. Pope never had a save to make and Raúl actually fouled Pieters so how car could give it is clearly wrong. Raúl kicked Pieters foot then collapsed in a heap. 100% cheat. Having said that we should have been 3 up

Re: Wolves Imports versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Dean didn’t give Kane what looked like a clear pen today. Comms called pen, VAR ref says no. I’ll be interested to see how many are overturned come season end. Very few I’d guess. Officials usually back officials.

Just a general lack of composure today. In front of goal, in the dying moments and if I’m being honest, in the middle of the park too. Individual errors let us down.

Naughty Madge was ready and almost doing her stuff, when the travesty happened.

Re: Wolves Imports versus MIGHTY CLARETS
The thing with the penalty was He was leaning back into Pieters, which hes entitled to do then he stretches out for the ball. Hes completely off balance and hitting the deck anyway, he didn't go down because of Pieters.
If the ref gives it, in real time, you can understand why, even if it's wrong. How VAR can look at that and agree with the ref is pathetic.

Time wasting is what cost us the game.
******* about at every opportunity is why we ended up with 5 mins added time.
It f**ks me off when the opposition do it, and equally so when we do it.
A point is better than none though.1

VAR has been neutered by the referees union.

Re: Wolves Imports versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Apologies for the petty insult, I was absolutely fuming at that. You may have been watching since 83, but at what standard did you play? I’ve played a fair bit, and coached teams too, and Pieters barely touched his foot, and my annoyance is aimed at the Wolves player rolling about on the ground and obviously influencing the ref, I also think Pieters was fouled immediately before the incident, but only a few have picked up on that.Vegas Claret wrote:Going on the Turf since 83, if that was at the other end I would have expected a penalty. I understand your point fully, but I would be furious if Barnes (for example) didn't do exactly the same at the other end - it's gamesmanship no doubt but Dyche has said on what must be approaching 100 occasions that he has no problem with it. Pieters didn't need to make any sort of challenge either
Just gutting because we should have won comfortably today.

Re: Wolves Imports versus MIGHTY CLARETS
What a marvellous first 60mins from us! We were slick and tenacious and looked a class above Wolves The injury to JBG really upset the balance but I was surprised that Hendrick did not replace him. The early withdrawal of Barnes, replacing him with an "off the pace" Rodriguez, just about nullified our attack. Vydra remained unused again and with the threat of Traore, maybe Taylor for McNeil. Still a good result though.
