R.I.P. Dad

Post by Burnleybabe » Mon Aug 26, 2019 2:13 pm

16 years ago today I lost my Dad.
He was a Glory hunter in the late 50's and started following Burnley.
He took everyone of his 5 Children to the Turf.
He would be so proud that not only his Grandchildren are still fanatical clarets but his Great Grandchildren will Support them.
When he died, there was a fantastic thread of Condolence from the previous site.
Unfortunately, I lost the thread I had printed in the house fire we had nearly 12 months ago.
I still miss him every day. Thank him for his legacy of Burnley Football Club
He would be over the moon to see where we are today.
He saw the championship winning team, hopefully we will do the same one day.

My Dad Mick ( Richard) Steele I love and miss you so much

I'm sure he may have sung Burnley til I die, but the truth is he'll be a Claret forever.

I can share the sentiments. It will be 30 years this Thursday since my dad passed away. And he’s the one responsible for me being a Claret. He saw all those fantastic years through the 50s & 60s. His last game might have been in the fourth division but at least it was a 6-0 win.

I’ve been an orphan now for over 15 years. You never stop missing them.

Great memories for you burnleybabe. I'm sure you do miss him. Sounds to have been a true claret.
And to you mdd2, you will still be raw, such a young age. As I mentioned to burnleybabe "memories", both of you should keep those happy ones in your thoughts everyday.

I can only wish I was as old as you were when I lost mine. 21 when I lost my mum, 12 days short of my birthday.

I'll be honest, I've been bitter in the past of pretty much everybody having both parents until an old age. You see people in their 50s/60s now who have both parents, and wish I'd have that.

Lovely post. That's why I think this board is special and so much more than a football site.

Condolences to all who have lost loved ones. My Dad died in 1966 when I was 10 years old. I have very few memories of him but those I have are precious.
