Whinging arrogant Wolves fans
We probably all heard them coming off the match, fans being very critical of the way Burnley played.
Sorry if it has been mentioned before, but on radio 5 after the match a Wolves fan called us Championship rubbish ,but contradicted himself by saying we should have been 3 goals up at one point, so not sure where that leaves Wolves then?. Savage was very critical of his comments and appreciated what Burnley are about, but disappointed that those comments seemed to dominate the rest of the radio show.
They get some money several years ago and they all now believe they belong in their 'rightful place' in the top 6.

All depends who you see, no matter which club. We walked away from the ground with a couple of Wolves fans who couldn't have been more complimentary of the way we played.

We play a brand of football that is direct and effective but not always that nice to watch. I would rather we play this way and win matches then try to play attractive passing football and get beat every week.

I spoke to a Wolves fan on Sunday night and he didn't have an issue with how we played, just surprised we didn't score more goals.

Re: Whinging arrogant Wolves fans
Wolves fans moaning about direct football? From the club that hired Graham Taylor and Mick McCarthy?
Someone throws some £££s at them and elevates their standing in the whole scheme of things, and suddenly they forget where they came from and the utter dross they had previously served up for the Premier League followers to watch as they failed to fight off relegation.
Football snobbery. They could do with a reminder that they too have been in the fourth tier, and in all likelihood, if it hadn't been for Steve Bull, they would have had an extended stint down there with us.

Think the OP refers to the tools who ring phone-ins rather than fans of a specific club.

I'd love to know what they class the long throws into the area if they aren't direct

Most teams mix the way they play, when they can, and we are no exception, some of our passing and movement at Wolves was great to see.

As always with these things it is far worse to be not slagged off in the media or on phone ins etc. There is a saying that the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about. We get slagged off when we are doing well because we put noses out of joint. In the words of a previous manager “long may it continue...”

I never heard anything negative from the Wolves fans.
We played some really good stuff in the 1st half and should have been more than one up

Re: Whinging arrogant Wolves fans
Wolves play lots of long ball stuff especially diagonally.
They then mess about overplaying it in an Arsenalesque Wenger style, often culminating in nothing.
But they do have a likeable manager and a super agent.

Re: Whinging arrogant Wolves fans
Its simple really. When a team doesnt beat us and their support thinks they can, they all take up te same theme of making derogatory comments about the style of our football. Its beome boring. But really anybody who doesnt undestand why we play the way we do, with the players we have must be dense from the neck up. I wonder if this particular 'numbskull' thought McNeils goal in the 2-0 win last season was 'boring?. The pundits on these talk shows should show these simples minded uneducated people up for what they are.

That's exactly what Robbie Savage did, to be fair.Stayingup wrote:Its simple really. Playing "our brand" of football well is more entertaining than playing ticky-tacky stuff badly.kaptin1 wrote:We play a brand of football that is direct and effective but not always that nice to watch. But we have an ingrained reputation for long ball football that will never go away. Arsenal were full of criticism on their message boards about the long ball stuff, after the game - these were the same fans (presumably) that were cheering when their goalkeeper took long goal kicks, and booing when he looked like taking short ones. (There was a minority on there saying that their main ambition was to come out from the game with no injuries because we were dirty cloggers. They were confused when I pointed out that 3 straight reds for us in 6 years was less cloggy than their 12 in 6 years. It didn't fit their perceptions.)

virtually all callers to radio stations are grade one nutjobs, sounds like another.
Re: Whinging arrogant Wolves fans
Arsenal fans are the worst of the lot for being pampered and moaning. If Snowflake has a better application than to them, then I dont know what has. Metropolitan moaners. They think we ashould stand atill like dustbins and allow them to dribble round us. Then they get a shock when we dont. In fact in the recent match it was them pumping more long balls in the firat half.dsr wrote:Playing "our brand" of football well is more entertaining than playing ticky-tacky stuff badly.

Re: Whinging arrogant Wolves fans
Interesting to note that in 3 PL matches this season we have committed 28 fouls ---Wolves 39 and Arsenal 25 (Arsenal committed 2 more fouls than us in the game against us!)Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:Local Wolves journalist moaning in his report about our ‘dark arts’ and time wasting from the 15th minute.
Wolves have played 14 less long balls than we have, they have made 23 less crosses than we have, they have made 355 more passes than we have but have mustered 10 less shots on goal than we have.
The game is becoming cluttered with possession these days with quite a number of teams taking 12 or more passes to get the ball out of their own half and sometimes then going back again. It really does add to the number of passes made but is hardly great to watch.
Re: Whinging arrogant Wolves fans
Can see it being a close call this season regarding the points tally.Wolves will probably have 10 extra matches in europa and there line ups don’t alter much, can see the injuries hitting them. The have hardly anyone of more to cover the front two and back 5.JohnMac wrote:You said that last season as well

Savage was pretty good on this occasion. He was asking the Wolves fan if they are getting above themselves because they've had a load of money thrown at them?

Re: Whinging arrogant Wolves fans
I wonder how they feel about the dark arts today after having 6 yellows, with one being a second thus meaning a dismissal, taking their total to 10 in four matches whereas we have had a total of 3 yellows in 4 games.
Wolves have committed 51 fouls and have been fouled 34 times.
We have committed 38 fouls have been fouled 50 times.
We must be very, very crafty if we can get away with things.

We are really dirty irrespective of the stats because the media constantly say we are hard and long ball and gritty etc...no skill at all apparently with 2 lumps up front. If our strikers were called Barneso and Woodinho just imagine the respect we would get
