Need a help

Post by MaxP » Tue Aug 27, 2019 9:13 pm

Hi!

Looking to book a holiday to Italy next year. We are starting with Florence and then considering going across to Conque Terre? Although it looks beautiful we have very little knowledge mybkexperience of the region.

Has anybody ever been?

Thanks.

Cinque Terre is great if you’re into walking. The villages themselves are busy with tourists but once you get up into the hills, the views are lovely and trails relatively quiet (at least they were late April when I went).

Trains between the villages are very frequent, handy to get back after a long walk.

3 or 4 nights should be enough in the area

Florence is magnificent - you’ll be impressed. I had a few days in Genoa whilst around there and loved it - it’s a slightly less touristy Barcelona, so has it’s rough parts, but the food, architecture etc were fantastic. One thing that’s a “thing” there is that each bar gives you tapas ( can’t remember the Italian name) with each drink. Some get way over the top and you barely need to buy dinner..

Also throw in Portofino Bay as part of your Cinque Terre trip and, if you want to go further afield the beautiful Italian Lakes aren’t too far. Maggiore the nearest as I recall.

Judging by the thread title you don't need any help with the "a lingo"
