I'm sure as long as the Premier League money keeps rolling in he won't be bothered.

We've not spent anything to need to worry about that.

I assume he won't be overly disappointed as his priority target for Dyche will be staying up.

The revenue stream of this competition is absolutely nothing unless you're a Championship (and arguably League One and lower) side.

Garlick's eyes will always be on the PL TV Money, and rightly so. I doubt he will even have a debrief on this game with SD, they both have the same targets and I don't think cup runs come into the equation.

The reality is, for most, Football is more about Money than Glory.

Clubs don't make much money from it unless they get a perceived glamour tie or they make through to the latter stages.

Revenue not an incentive in league cup.

Call me old fashioned, but I’m here for the football and I’d love to see us in a cup final. I can’t see a better opportunity than during this era, which makes losing to league one teams on a regular basis more frustrating.

He thinks get us to a 17th placed or above finish, let's post good profits again , freeze season tickets again and everyone is happy.

The Chairman won't care less about his. He will be too busy arranging for £20 million pound transfers in January, which we almost make, but don't.

It's still a revenue stream even if it's a small one

I’ll take 6th in the Premier League. Solvent with a new training ground and some great players over the EFL Cup any day of the year. We are competing and playing well at the highest level and we are the smallest club in the league. Yes I wanted to win tonight of course, but the Cup is not a priority it’s a bonus.

We all agree remaining in the PL is most important. However, while we will never be a top 6 club (certainly not a regular event), it would be nice to have a serious run after some silverware.

A manager who signed 50 million worth of players who played tonight - remember that

After we've had another successful season in the prem, praise from far and wide, tonight's result will be forgotten.

No one remembered our cup defeats when we finished 7th

I wish we took the cups more seriously, although the side fielded tonight should have beaten Sunderland’s second team comfortably.

I do have one gripe with the people, including pundits, who whinge about managers resting players though. It’s quite likely that if we played our strongest side we’d be knocked out in the third or fourth round anyway. The way people go on suggests that playing our strongest team would give us a good chance of making a cup final. In reality that would be very unlikely to happen.

I love how every one downplays the cups as completely unimportant to us, yet everyone remembers the great cup runs we had under Owen Coyle as some of the most enjoyable and memorable times as a fan. Sean really can do no wrong can he.

My memorable times as a fan were in the late fifties and sixties and now being able to watch the top sides in the Premier League for several seasons not an odd cup run.

true, this , and the FA cup is always a big deal for lesser clubs thesedays, they can pretend they are giant killing now and then, but most football fans realise its all kidology.

We were a Championship side under OC, we needed the revenue from the cups, apparently paying the wages during that season was becoming a problem, and I thank we had a transfer embargo because of difficulties over payment for Chris Eagles. The revenue from the Prem changes the whole way in which we veiw the cups.

It’s a bit embarrassing, only for a couple of days though. The importance of the league cup has been in decline for quite a long time and the FA cup no longer has the magic it used to have.

It must be an massive disappointment for the coaching staff, strong team on paper beaten by the second string two divisions below. They have a bit of work to do.

depends on your definition of money spinner.

Will we make a boat load of cash enabling us to spend 40 million in January - absolutely not
Would we make enough money to pay Defour's wages for a few weeks - more than likely

Therefore it's a relevant revenue stream
