Re: Ocky Erasmus
I don't think Lancs League pro's sign 3 year deals! They sign for 1 and then it's either renewed.....(or not....) Clubs wouldn't want to make that length of commitment.
Re: Ocky Erasmus
going to Stanley-in fact they have signed him or maybe "House

If they signe him at least he will turn up and play not like the other pros they have had herd lowerhouse are not signing another pro for next year as they have enough pros in the team already up the colne

Re: Ocky Erasmus
I'd be utterly amazed at any Lancs League pro signing for more than a year and 5 years is laughable. Neither the club nor the player knows where they will be a year down the line, let alone in 5 years, or indeed what the "going rate" might be in a couple of years time. The player may be playing international cricket this time next year and all bets are off. It's utter nonsense mate!

Re: Ocky Erasmus
You telling me that James Price has a chance off playing for South Africa? The only county/international player in the Lancashire League is Chris Holt. That's a well known factDark Cloud wrote:I'd be utterly amazed at any Lancs League pro signing for more than a year and 5 years is laughable. Re: Ocky Erasmus
No, I'm not specifically saying Price has a chance of playing for SA, but what I'm saying is NO pro and NO club would sign deals for longer than a year because neither party knows where they will be in 12 months time and that may well not involve international cricket, but maybe other offers they want to pursue. Just as an example though, what if Maharaj (SP) had signed a 5 year deal with Nelson and then ended up being selected for SA, as actually happened soon after he was there?

What day are this weekends fixtures
Re: Ocky Erasmus
You will automatically be released from a contract if selected for an international side, even if it's an A team, junior team, or training camp. And even if the player just gets a better offer, he can still walk out and there's diddly squat the club can do about it. That's a major reason why deals above 2 years are very very rare if not unknown - because if the player loses form or interest, the club is stil stuck with the contract; if he is better than expected, he can leave in spite of the contract.Dark Cloud wrote:No, I'm not specifically saying Price has a chance of playing for SA, but what I'm saying is NO pro and NO club would sign deals for longer than a year because neither party knows where they will be in 12 months time and that may well not involve international cricket, but maybe other offers they want to pursue. Plenty of people will of donated to Lowerhouse's begging bowl in the late 90s, but it doesn't stop their supporters chirping up, and nor should it.
Every cricket club will have been on the verge of going under at some point, if not most seasons.

I think Burnley must have had the sub air system fitted to suck all the moisture out of the ground like they have for the greens at Augusta. With all these spinners their pitch must be like bowling in Bombay rather than Burnley!!!Burnley1989 wrote:Decent signing would suit their team

Bret Pelser signed a 2 year deal at Rawtenstall a few seasons ago. I know he signed an even longer contract when he left us.Dark Cloud wrote:No, I'm not specifically saying Price has a chance of playing for SA, but what I'm saying is NO pro and NO club would sign deals for longer than a year because neither party knows where they will be in 12 months time and that may well not involve international cricket, but maybe other offers they want to pursue. It looked a bit damp the other week when I looked over from my seat in the stand during the Southampton game - I think damp's the word when there is so much surface waterAndreshotboots wrote:I think Burnley must have had the sub air system fitted to suck all the moisture out of the ground like they have for the greens at Augusta. Re: Ocky Erasmus
Have to say I didn't believe a club would sign a pro for that length. I have known pros sign for two years but to commit to three years as Burnley appear to have done is beyond anything I can recall previously.Burnley1989 wrote:Not buying the 3 year though, I know the type down there and theirs no way Browny would sign up to that
And I never thought Burnley would sign a former East Lancs & Lowershouse pro either.

Re: Ocky Erasmus
If the lads are settled and living over here no real reason why they can't sign longer deals. I know James Price is living here after marrying an English girl, makes it easier for clubs if they don't have to worry about sorting their accommodation as well.
