And that’s why Mee will never get in the England squad.

Wonder if Mee still wonders why he's not been called up for England.

Pieters looks a liabilityt oo.

Need to stiffen midfield, Drinkwater on for Wood, and Jay on for Barnes if Barnes ineffective at 70 minutes

2 mistakes 2 goals. Can't afford those against the top teams. Other than that we played well, working hard to stifle them and created a couple of chances.

Unfortunately that is why Ben doesn’t get picked for England. Shame because a deflected goal and mistake flatters the Scousers. Jürgen will be happy at the strength of their tackling though.

one stat gave us 52% pass completion (Liverpool 72%)
We don't get that much of the ball but then just give it away

Liverpool will be in dressing room wondering how the hell they are 2 up. A one in a million deflection and a huge mistake by Mee. Fantastic save by Pope tipping Salah shot onto post. Way too many mistakes and give aways especially by Pieters who is not good enough. Time to get Taylor back in

We are playing like we always play and they are a class above in every department.
Pointless pointing the finger for individual errors. In a long season they all make them.
My concern is, after Wed. nights shambles, we could now be 4 games without a win and that gets into players heads. A poor way to go into an international break.
Still a game to play out here but it’s a long way back.

Apart from the 35 yard top corner dipping own goal
and a rare clanger from Mee

I thought we did OK

Not lost yet.

Pieters has gradually begun to look like the bargain buy 31 year old backup kicked out of Championship Stoke that he is.

Taylor back in for me.

Anyone blaming Lowton is mental. In that position, it is entirely Ben Mee’s fault. You can’t expect your centre half so cheaply give the ball away there. Shocking.

Ben Mee at fault for second; and I’m sure he’ll hold his hands up for it. Lethally finished, mind.

Not sure what Pieters did wrong for either goal but no doubt one of the experts on here will explain. He had Salah in his pocket for 30 mins with the exception of the one that hit the post and he should have been played in for the last kick of the half.

Mistakes happen and no one can fault Mee’s effort or commitment. We have done well but need to up the threat going forward - next goal could be vital.

Don’t rate Mee at all. Just doesn’t have the attributes to be a centre half at this level and there’s always a mistake in him, always. We make him look much better than he actually is due to our defensive shape and protection he’s offered.

Not his fault on either goal, Hibs.

My comment was purely on his performance in general, which I could only summarise as ‘last ditch’. Taylor is far better in possession of the ball and I think links better with McNeil/overlaps.

Pieters is fine backup, but that’s what he is starting to look (just my opinion).

Was waiting for Hibs to post as soon as Pieters was mentioned  Taylor by far the better footballer.

So no fault for either goal and we suggest replacing one of our better players against the European champions...I assume you saw Arsenal’s defence looking ‘last ditch’ last week along with our ‘last ditch’ defending of a corner in midweek by our reserve left back

Sadly the thing we lack and Liverpool have is pace but the Sky commentators wax on about Alexander-Arnold and his skill yet they ignore him kicking the ball away.

I confess I didn’t watch the Sunderland game though I have seen the goals, apparently the entire team was poor including Taylor, fair enough on that I suppose. It doesn’t change my mind that I feel Pieters lack of athleticism is having a negative impact on McNeil’s development as he is getting nowhere near the attacking support on the flank with Pieters, who is a far more defensive minded player.

I think you’d be hard pressed to say anyone has been a ‘better’ player today too, we’ve been outclassed and outworked all over the pitch. No disgrace there, we’re playing one of the best teams in world football.

This isn’t a character assassination of Pieters, I think he’s a good signing (certainly for the price), just feel one of our best players last season should perhaps begin to get re-introduced assuming he is now fully fit.

Liverpool reduces to time wasting from the second half onwards.

They know we’re dangerous.

If WE can get a lucky goal it’s game on again.

Lino doesn’t know his pythagoras.
Sends Lennon back from a corner. He’s level with the little goal line marker and about 10yds upfield. Makes him about 14yds away to me.

You could just leave it to Dyche. He did nothing in midweek to suggest a recall and Pieters has done nothing wrong to be dropped. It also helps if you watch a game before suggesting changes to the team
