Catch 22

Post by Devils_Advocate » Sat Aug 31, 2019 8:13 pm

It looks to me like for some games we would be better served by getting 3 in the centre of midfield (especially if we can get Drinkwater firing). The problem is that Barnes looks his best (and only really works) in a 4-4-2 and has been our best attacking player by a country mile.

Barnes and 4-4-2 is the only option for now and I think we'll pick up 4pts next month that will keep us in a decent position but if we struggle next month might be some tough decisions ahead for Dyche around the formation and Barnes place in the team

Not much point playing 4-5-1 if you're opting for direct/long ball play. You're often bypassing the central midfield.

Agree but if we have someone like Jay-Rod or Wood up top with the McNeil and JBG pushed on we will be able to get hold of it and get it down and play football transitioning it through the midfield like we did when we used the formation in the first half of the 17/18 season

That means leaving Barnes out which is the problem and why at the moment it wont and shouldnt happen

In which case I'll trust SD to make the decisions.

What?! Are you suggesting we play long ball football?!

Our opponents, more often than not, play more long balls than wr do.
