Buses after an evening kick off
Buses after an evening kick off
Not sure if the club or any supporters groups can do anything to organise a better bus service after a Saturday early evening kick off?
After the game ended there was ONE bus in the bus station going to Padiham. It left ten minutes late and there were still loads of passengers on the concourse.

Re: Buses after an evening kick off
I was on this bus and it was pi55 poor service to have 1 bus running. I got on the bus at 20 past and it didn't set off until 20 to. We left just as the 3rd goal went in to try to beat the traffic too. It really amazes me what goes through the head of the organisers. It didn't help that he had the world's slowest ticket machine too.

I too left early to beat the traffic. I was on the same (only) bus.
I feel for those left on the concourse who were actually going to Preston - they would have had to wait another hour before the next bus.

There was a time when the fixtures were compiled with fans in mind. Local derbys on Bank Holidays etc due to public transport issues. But not now, you're only paying supporters and you don't matter.

The motto here is....pay for 90 plus added....watch 99 plus added.
There is no point in leaving early.

Agree. Whats the point in paying to go to a game and leaving early unless you have something urgent to go back to?IanMcL wrote:The motto here is....pay for 90 plus added....watch 99 plus added.

What are you rushing back for? Bed? Food?
Watch til then end and clap your team

Buses can be very handy in London, if you can't park near the ground!pushpinpussy wrote:do people still use buses in this day and age.

We've tried Mike but the bus company don't want to know unfortunately. If I need to catch a bus it's the X43 to Manchester and after an evening kick off you miss the last bus. We can only try again with them.mikeS wrote:Not sure if the club or any supporters groups can do anything to organise a better bus service after a Saturday early evening kick off?

It really is staggering that companies like Transdev won't entertain this.ClaretTony wrote:We've tried Mike but the bus company don't want to know unfortunately. If I need to catch a bus it's the X43 to Manchester and after an evening kick off you miss the last bus. We can only try again with them.

Thanks a lot Tony.
Re: Buses after an evening kick off
Bus timetables are very complex. Buses, routes, drivers co-ordinated to meet normal need. One offs are a complication too far.
However, why not suggest to a coach company that there is a potential market on a match day?
Evidence would ge useful.
The club has all the details of us Clarets. They could plot where we all come from and find locations where it may lessen xar journeys and promote coach use. A bit like school journeys...

Re: Buses after an evening kick off
Back in the 60’s there were more local buses and on Burnley home games football specials that dropped off on Belvedere Road. Excellent service then.
Saturday with a full house at the Turf, pubs packed with folk enjoying a beer or two before the game and leaving their cars at home, would have been ideal for bus or private coach companies to make additional revenue.

I live near Brighton and the club pays the trains/bus company for an enhanced service on match days

Not paid voluntarily - was part of the conditions of being permitted to build the stadium therecockneyclaret wrote:I live near Brighton and the club pays the trains/bus company for an enhanced service on match days

I missed the game altogether as getting back to Sussex using public transport wasn't possible.
