Grow up. If it was an update on how Ayoze Perez was getting on at Leicester, then yes it would be strange. But it's an update on Defour, a player many of us thought was a brilliant player.
You also made the effort to read a thread about him. Move on?!

I must admit, when opening this thread, to half expecting it to say he was injured again.

I did yes, thinking he may have scored done something really good, then saw he posted he played last week and claimed we had our pants pulled down. So it seems we are going to get a weekly update on him. Hopefully when I grow up I can be as cool as you

True I think in Belgium they have the overhead height rule and games are only 30 mins each half

Defour is a player & his connection to our club is of great interest to me, hence the weekly updates.
Firstly, I am disappointed that we had a great player that excelled in the brand of football I want to see on a weekly basis is no longer with Burnley. Although I will stop well short of describing him as a legend etc.
Secondly, I'm disappointed that we have sold (released) an international player, who with hindsight, is seemingly fit & injury free for no fee.
Third, I'm very disappointed that my club constantly told me he was either injured or not fit or recovering from injury. This well may have been the case at some point in his career with us, but not now when he has left ?
Last but not least, we had a brilliant player with the team for quite a few transfer windows, who was indeed injured for a while, where we could have built a core of players around him to allow him to excel in his position. In my opinion, we didn't do this, which again disappoints me.
The club is still in a very good position & I'm not complaining, but I think we have lost an opportunity.

We need to be signing their physio.
Although I’m surprised he’s played as much as he has, there is a big difference between the league he’s playing in now and the Premier League.
But simply he wanted to return to Belgium so, even when he’d got fit, staying at Burnley wasn’t a good option for him. From what I’m told he was spending more and more time in Belgium in any case.

It was the case when he left and there were no guarantees that he would ever have been fit to play at our level again.

That's fine, I and probably most fans can accept that.
But why not a simple statement like ' it's not working out for Steven' rather than the season and a half of being injured & not fit story.

He was unfit, he remained some way short of being fit to play in the Premier League and we fully explained the reasons for terminating his contract.

You've got to be under 6ft to play in the Belgium leagues so its definitely less physical

Steven Defour substituted after 20 mins yesterday - hamstring injury and looks like 4-6 weeks out
Not yet ready and put in too soon, even in a far less demanding league

No way - I though his injury at burnley was just a big scam.
Maybe he’s up to his cheeky tricks again in Belgium so he can take the wife and kids on holiday during half term - he’s not daft is “our Stephen”

Absolutely not a scam and from what I was told I am amazed he has been playing in the Belgian league. Dyche doesn't rush players back, he always says he wants to them to comeback once so they don't play until they are absolutely ready. He suggested he was some way away from being fit enough to play in the Premier League and I have no reason to disbelieve that.

I remember his first year with us when a number of posters were claiming he was fit but didn’t want to play.
They quietened down during the second year.

Any player can pick this injury up at anytime - it only takes an over stretch

But you told us all on here he was feinting injury? like which one is it? maybe you were correct all along but this flip flopping opinion is hard to understand.

My post was supposed to be a dig at those who were saying he was feigning injury at Burnley but my sarcasm was obviously misplaced
