England v Australia 4th Test
Re: England v Australia 4th Test
They are so freaking arrogant that they cannot believe it when they are out. Guess the gum didn’t work today

Get Smith out cheaply and England must have a real chance!ClaretTony wrote:Not far away from having enough on this wicket now. We need them to bat as long as possible.

Last failed review was umpire’s call so they get it back to waste again

4 over throws to Smith. Holding calls it a wayward throw. It missed the stumps by millimetres and Archer chickened out of getting behind it.
Re: England v Australia 4th Test
Let Leavh have a go at Smith soon. He was the only bowler in first innings trouble him

Agree with this. Best thing for Aussies could be us steamrolling them for about 100 - 120 as they will prob bat themselves out of the win to be 100% safe after the last testClaretTony wrote:Not far away from having enough on this wicket now. We need them to bat as long as possible.

They are 240 in front now. I can’t imagine us being able to get too many more than that, if at all, so the less time we have to bat the better.Devils_Advocate wrote:Agree with this. I'm with you on that Tony. Not as much bounce in the pitch and they have some good bowlers who will put us under pressure.ClaretTony wrote:They are 240 in front now. I can’t imagine us being able to get too many more than that, if at all, so the less time we have to bat the better.
They are only scoring at around 2.8 per over which is what we need to keep them at bay. Still could be another 45 over today and I can see them having a bowl at us in the last hour so they could bat for another 25 over or so which, at current run rate, would be another 75 runs scored which would leave us 320+ to win.
What's the weather forecast?

Just seen an unbelievable statistic that the last time England got Steve Smith out was 1973.

Well not win this.
Got to stop them having a go though. Don't let them score quickly and we've a decent chance.

Re: England v Australia 4th Test
Don’t think winning is even a remote option. Just don’t lose and it becomes a 1 off test for the ashes at the Oval. We need Australia to still be batting at close ( unless of course we bowl em out )

Only spijed seemed to think there was a chance of winning it. It’s a matter of trying to prolong their innings so we have less time to bat.Buxtonclaret wrote:Well not win this.

Re: England v Australia 4th Test
Another 50 for Steve Smith,the man's a freak.
That is now nine consecutive fifties for Steve Smith against England. That has equaled the record for fifties in a row by one player against any team which is held by Inzamam-ul-Haq against England.
He's scoring at a good lick to boot. if England lose this game it'll be the 1st innings that's proved costly, you can't cede a 200 run lead and expect to win the test match.

I can’t see the Aussies being too negative in their declaration. It wouldn’t surprise me if they only bat another half hour.

I’ve just gone back to cricket during half time to find Smith still there needing only 19 for another century.Buxtonclaret wrote:Switched over for footy.

Re: England v Australia 4th Test
We dodged the bullet at Headingley, however, there should have been changes because Jason Roy has not been in any sort of form and has dropped a few catches along the way.
Sadly, they are outplaying us in this test and I just can't see any way out for us. I thought that Starc and Lyon would account for us in the first innings, however, Lyon was not very influential at all ----he rarely bowls badly in two innings on the trot.

Re: England v Australia 4th Test
Doubt it'll matter in the grand scheme, they're 350 ahead already, the key will be England batting for more than a 100 overs, they've done it a few times in this series so it's possible, but it'll require a couple of long partnerships, and an element of luck to survive with a draw.

Re: England v Australia 4th Test
They've declared,England set 383 to win,or more likely bat out the 5th day for a draw.
I'll be if the quicks bowl in the fading light.
Jason roy's injured himself while fielding to add to England's woes.

You shouldn't have to bat after 6.30 at Manchester in September against 90 mph bowlers.
