This pair have to get to tea and then see how long they can frustrate the Aussies.

There's around 50 overs scheduled, but bad light might come into play if England can stick in.

Useful partnership between the JB'S but they really had to go on for another hour or so.

The cheating convicts have got the ball changed again,we know what happened last time they managed that feat.

Lot of complaints on BBC about condition of ‘new ball’ Also what has Lyon got on his towel. Commentators saying it could be super glue to hold his finger cut together WTF !

Umpire thought he was out and this was confirmed by the replay. Could have gone either way ---but didn't.

So was Cummins. Great example of sportsmanship by Stokes. Doubt we will ever see Any Aussie doing that.

The way they look at these decisions needs to be changed, spent an age looking to see if he hit it or not when it the end it didn’t matter.
Surely someone can point it out to them.

Batter knew he had hit it and you could see it without ultra edge. New ball swinging like pendulum. Getting farcical now

That was mental finally got the right decision but i'm not sure there was too much method in the madness.

Even Glenn McGrath said he clearly nicked it,how on earth can the ultra edge thing miss that.

For a nearly 60 over old ball it's somewhat lively ain't it.

Third umpire just said there wasn’t enough evidence to overturn the decision on ultra edge. Thankfully the position of contact rescued him.

But everyone in the ground knew Overton had hit it,fortunately they got the right call in the end, would have been some reaction from the crowd if that had been given out.

Great effort by Buttler and good support from Overton. Just a tiny light at the end of the tunnel now but another new ball looming soon

166-6 at tea from the beeb feed.

Right, some quick numbers for you:

The tea break is 20 minutes. The new ball is due in 11 overs. There's a minimum of 36 overs left in the day. I reckon the light will start going in by about 18:30.

So by that reckoning about 2 hours to survive for England, tough ask but not impossible, new ball could be a problem though, might explain why Lyon bowled a lot of overs this afternoon,so they could hurry through their allocation.

That first ball manic appeal was a disgrace. Putting umpire under pressure. It was not within 2 feet of hands or bat !!!!

Stokes innings aside we’ve been pretty limp this series and don’t deserve the ashes.

It's asking a lot for the bowlers to see off 30 overs against this attack armed with a new ball.

As good as Jofra is at bowling, and he is excellent, he's absolutely dire at batting.

His shot yesterday which got him out was absolutely pathetic. There’s been a lot of that this series though, and not just from Archer.

If they didnt win this series outright never mind just retain the ashes, it'd have been robbery.

They've been better in every department other than in the review system.

They've probably win over 75% of the sessions.

Simply outclassed

Yes didn't realise, the way this old ball is behaving they might wait an over or two, they've got that luxury,England's best hope is bad light ATM.

New ball now due and it is getting darker,England need to hang in for as long as they can now.

23 overs remaining but they'll get nowhere near that, hopefully the umpires will get twitchy about the light soon, this pair just need to hang in.

I suspect that might change especially if there's a frontline batsman at the crease,he can clearly hold an end.

Where's that bloody sun come from :) just dig in boys.

Crowd sounds amazing whatever happens they've had their money's worth.

These bouncers are doing England a favour, any hold up's are good. ;)

16 overs remaining but they shouldn't get that many in,just have to keep ticking the balls off.

Labuschagne making the breakthrough of all people.all on Overton and Broad now.

Was thinking exactly the same,i'm sure it was pointed out at the time by several people and dismissed, those overs and time would have been very valuable now wouldn't they.

Light's probably England's saviour the TMS team think another half hour or so and that's with the spinners bowling.

Let’s see plenty of glove changes, bit of cramp, movement behind the bowler’s arm, objects on the pitch and ideally, a floodlight failure.
