I'm going tomorrow and I'm a bit naffed off re the weather. Hopeful, but not overly optimistic!!

Having an Ashes series going into Autumn is madness,I fully expect the weather to scupper our chances of winning this series,I suppose it's all about greed trying to cram so many games in over the summer.

All the local cricket clubs got offered tickets.

Yes- the last home ashes test is usually finished by late August but the WC games running to mid July have screwed that up this time.

It looks like maybe a few showers interrupting bits of Old Trafford play for the first two days but then maybe a bigger problem Friday.
I'm hoping Oz dont win the game as I have tickets for 3 days at The Oval & hoping England can still win back the ashes there.

Looking forward to the 5th ashes TM but a bit disappointed the footy fixtures threw up Clarets trip to Brighton on the Saturday. I really like a trip to Falmer via Lewes but going to be at the cricket that day with half an eye on my phone 15.00- 16.45.

I hope all those going to OT have a good time & it's not too cool to enjoy a beer.

Hopefully with it not being the weekend it will be a bit less boisterous in there than it was last time I went (v India) as it was mainly full of gangs of lads, all p1ssed off their heads by lunchtime with no apparent interest in the cricket they'd paid £40-£50 quid each to come and watch for the day!

Just be glad your going Thursday and not tomorrow. Sounds like most off colne and padiham will there

Still tickets left for Sunday. Worth a punt at £25 given the likelihood of rain delays on the first 3 days - money back if it doesn't get that far.

Overton in for Woakes. Didn’t see that one coming and not sure I agree. Guess they picked him on the strength of getting Smith out once !! Should leave that to Archer. Smith will be terrified of facing him again

Don't get me wrong I enjoy a few bevvies watching the cricket same as most folk but can do without the drunken football style chanting and a rubber chicken being thrown around indiscriminately

Go in fancy dress as a fridge full of beer/cider. It’s a bit elaborate but it’s always worked for me.

I’ve tried to get into Turf Moor dressed as a box of pyrotechnics though and didn’t make it as far as the turnstile. I’ve always thought that football fans were treated more unfairly.

I know that mate,but we have just had a 10 day break,what happened to back to back "tests"we could lose quite a lot of days out of the next two tests specially the Oval which could be a decider,it would be sad if the weather spoils it.

They did back to backs, then a break, and then back to backs again. They never do more than 2 tests back to back so they? Player welfare and rest and recuperation needed.

The last test of the 2005 series ended on 12th September so not much earlier than this will be (admittedly that game did lose some time to rain). Pretty sure the more recent series have also gone on into September.
