employment issue
My wife has just been told by her boss at Parcelforce that she can't have any maternity leave until proof that the baby has been delivered! Surely that's not illegal. Any budding lawyers on here.

Have a look on here
https://www.gov.uk/employers-maternity-pay-leave" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This tells you the rules governing employers which you may find interesting.
https://www.acas.org.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; › maternity -----this relates to employees rights

Given you've got "illegal" and "legal" mixed up, are you sure there's not some confusion?pushpinpussy wrote:My wife has just been told by her boss at Parcelforce that she can't have any maternity leave until proof that the baby has been delivered! And don't ask me to sign for it. I'm not looking after it for 18 years.

Re: employment issue
Maybe they'll leave it with a neighbour (I'd give it about 18 years before collecting tbh!)

Re: employment issue
I hope they are in when they bring it and don’t lob it over the back gate like they did with a picture frame I’d ordereddougcollins wrote:Are Parcelforce delivering the baby?

Re: employment issue
I think pushpin's missus has misheard what was said to her.
She needs to have proof of pregnancy, which is a letter from a Doctor or midwife issued half way through the pregnancy.
Perhaps she needs to go into the office and have the conversation again, is this what she was being told?
Proof of pregnancy
You must get proof of the pregnancy before you pay SMP. This is usually a doctor’s letter or a maternity certificate (known as an MATB1 certificate). Midwives and doctors usually issue these 20 weeks before the due date.
