How does it even have to come to that.
What goes through some heads.
Sadly the majority of Calgliari fans will be tarnished with the brush that one or two mindless cavemen should be tarnished with. Equally Inter fans then have to do this.
Its definitely still an issue. In Italy and beyond. But Northern Italy is much different to the South. Almost like two different worlds! But it is a problem in Italy no doubt.

There's plenty on this board who spout similar half-assed excuses for their racism.

So they wouldn't say the same things to people they meet "in real life". The mind boggles that someone would compose this apparently seriously.

Has anyone seen the Italian Netflix show called Carlo and Malik. Language is disgraceful towards blacks and ethnic minorities. And this was a show on their national TV stations. Wouldnt be allowed here but then again we are years agead of most of these countries.
On a side note bar the language Carlo and Malik is well worth a watch

I dont believe all Italian football fans are racist. The video that has done the rounds for Lukaku's penalty clearly shows women in the crowd disgusted with the other fans reactions.
What I meant by years ahead was regards the football community. In part I put a lot of this down to all seater stadiums. People who happily crowded together in large singing groups in the past no longer do that. As on the longside years ago many parents would go top corner in the singing section whilst their kids would stand at the front of the stand. Because of all seaters most of this pack mentality has been broken up. Dads having to sit with kids. More women deciding to go now because the grounds are more family friendly seating.
As well as this because of the global market the Premier League has the football authorities have had to make their product much more family friendly and sellable. I think this is shown with the money English clubs recieve compared to Italian clubs.

Is this a real comment/letter? Or has it just been made up then put on social media?
Even for Italian standards it sounds a little absurd. Although it wouldn't be surprise me.

I agree there are huge differences between the North & South of Italy but not sure I understand your comment here CC; are you saying that there is a difference in racist views between North & South? or just in general regards work, culture, food, mentality, social services, etc.?

With regards to Cagliari, there have been many instances over the last few seasons with racist comments/chanting at home games in Cagliari and the Italian FA have done nothing about it. There was a good BBC sport article recently reporting on it.
There is much to do in fighting racism in Italy but unfortunately fan power and Ultra groups are strong and have a big influence on clubs, and clubs don't want to upset Ultra groups. There is no family based culture in going to games; women have kids/reduced prices to go on games, that's how they are viewed! The only families present are the players'!! Racist noise is a small minority and as usual it will be brushed under the carpet again, as it was just a few idiots, but will eventually come up again sooner rather than later.

I haven't seen that. Is it like Love Thy Neighbor and Till Death Us Do Part, both on British national TV?

I went to Fiorentina v Milan a few years ago and the treatment of Balotelli from the home fans was absolutely shocking.
I’m not talking a small minority of fans either, the chants were widespread, at least where I was sat anyway.
Maybe things have changed over the last 5 or so years but the treatment of Lukaku, Kean and others suggest it hasn’t.

They’re claiming it’s an “ Ooo George Oghani” type chant that is using irony /humour to show support .
To say Italy is a little backward with race equality would be like saying “ Mt Everest is very high”

In my view the North of Italy is different in most ways. In particular education and culture.
Not saying racism isn't an issue in the north and is in the south.

TBH In my experience at The San Siro there are lots of women - even in The Curva Nord. But on every game I have been to I have actually thought it noticeable how many women you do see there.

Don’t the northern Italians look down their noses at the southern Italians? Pretty sure they give it the ‘Arab’ slant to those in the south?
Spent a fair bit of time in Calabria and that’s the general consensus down there amongst the folk I spoke to?
The opposite geography in terms of the psych of some in England!
