Would love to hear the decision-making in giving that over to Livingstone!

To be fair, Davies batted well.Bordeauxclaret wrote:And that’s why you should never ever trust Rovers fans on anything.

I felt sorry for Livingstone until I was informed two minutes ago that he is a Blackburn fan.

They had Mahmood, Gleeson or Parkinson who could have bowled the 19th. Even Croft would have been a better option than Livingstone.

Re: Lancs v Essex t20 Quarter Final
Croft knocking that catch over for a 6 was the game changer. No blame on him, ball must have moved some distance for a pro to run so far past an easy catch.
Livingstone far to slow and short that last over. Bopara owes him a pint.

The red ball game is far more important to me BUT absolutely fuming after that. Disgrace!
Re: Lancs v Essex t20 Quarter Final
It must have been on the lines of "his third over was abysmal - two full tosses and two long hops - but only 11 runs scored; he couldn't bowl so badly again".Leisure wrote:Would love to hear the decision-making in giving that over to Livingstone!
To be fair, his second over was pretty good. His first wasn't. If they decided that all the other bowlers were so bad that a 1-in-3 bowler was the best hope of preventing sixes, then ...
then they're idiots.

No, I want RedRose to win any competition, but a quick read through my posts will indicate my like for the red ball game: I have frequently discussed our need to improve the batting lineup in our four day setup. Tonight though, tactically, when it mattered, was simply not good enough.
And I maintain....Vilas has dug is out far too many times this season. I don’t think our batting lineup is good enough: we need two quality four day batsmen.

Arguably the single worst piece of captaincy I have ever seen.
It defied all sense and logic.
Can only think they were trying to be clever and it back fired horribly.
Lancs have a formidable T20 line up and have spent a fortune on Maxwell and Failkner but that decision has cost them a chance lifting that trophy this year.

He became obsessed with bowling spinners with a wet bowl on a track that wasn't turning and the batters were picking runs off for fun.arise_sir_charge wrote:Arguably the single worst piece of captaincy I have ever seen.

Faulkner is probably the most experienced death bowler in world cricket and Mahmood had bowled two great overs so why bowl the last four overs when Essex needed 44 runs to win with spin bowlers is beyond comprehension.

Re: Lancs v Essex t20 Quarter Final
Even as somebody who was born and bred in this County and played for all the Lancashire junior teams from under 11's to under 19'S, I still find it hard to wish success for Lancashire. The way they dismiss anything to do with the leagues in our side of the County in utterly disgusting. I'm talking about the Lancashire, Ribblesdale Leagues etc. There have been some, and still are some fabulous cricketers in these leagues that haven't even had so much as a look in at the chance to show what they can do and possibly earn a contract at Old Trafford. They have also let some fabulous players go over the years, again without any interest at all. I'm not sure who heads the scouting network at OT but they certainly need to set their sights on the whole of the County, not just the Central and West Coast. I thought things might change under Chappy but they clearly haven't. ....and don't get me started on how shockingly unhelpful they are with trying to find a sub Professional for a weekend game!!

Re: Lancs v Essex t20 Quarter Final
Still stunned at the decision. When Livingstone stepped up to bowl that 19th over, given his past record, I suspected that would be it. That game was very close to being won at that point but Faulkner didn't even have a last over to bowl. Shocking, shocking decision that has cost the county dearly.

Re: Lancs v Essex t20 Quarter Final
A poor night all round, disappointing attendance and very heavy dew often affects the side bowling second at the Riverside. Davies' innings was superb but the Lancs captaincy a bit dumb. Livingstone had a shocker with both bat and ball.
It might have been better playing the match in Essex!?

Totally agree. An out ground in the County, a full house would have been far better. I assume it was only the "Emirates" connection that took it to Durham?Leisure wrote:Or Liverpool or Blackpool!

Floodlights needed to accommodate Sky, Allott said no suitable wicket available at Liverpool, mis-management more likely!

Reason for Durham was our record there being so good and the pitch having similar dimensions to OT.Andreshotboots wrote:Totally agree. An out ground in the County, a full house would have been far better. I assume it was only the "Emirates" connection that took it to Durham?
Re: Lancs v Essex t20 Quarter Final
Oh dear.
At least it was an entertaining game with the consolation being that everyone is free to watch the Clarets instead of going to finals day.

Re: Lancs v Essex t20 Quarter Final
Well that line of thinking didn't work out too well. Maybe when taking our win record there into account they forgot to take into consideration the fact that previously we've only been playing Durham there!ClaretTony wrote:Reason for Durham was our record there being so good and the pitch having similar dimensions to OT.
