I mean first teamers, Peacock Farrell may be trusted to sit on the bench next season but I'd wager the other 2 you mentioned will hang around for a few years before disappearing without trace.Tall Paul wrote:Like Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Adam Phillips and Joel Senior, you mean?

Re: Drink water injury
I suppose we could sign more younger players like Vydra and Gibson then the likes of you and Boysie can complain that they're not good enough to displace the players in our first team who have already proven that they're good enough to hold down a place in a mid to lower table PL team.jrgbfc wrote:I mean first teamers, Peacock Farrell may be trusted to sit on the bench next season but I'd wager the other 2 you mentioned will hang around for a few years before disappearing without trace.
The reality is that these young players who are good enough to play for our first team are few and far between and out of our price range.

I've moved a couple, I felt I had to haha. But I'd say we definitely have a better squad, even if we've lost some good players (although have some better ones in other positions (eg. right back). Central midfield is the only position that NEEDS addressing in January. Or we could be looking at McNeil in CM as happened with Arfield.claptrappers_union wrote:2016 player --- 2019 respective replacement

We do like an England international goalkeeper or 4 though haha

We must have a better squad we are still in the Premier League, otherwise im sure we would have been found out by now by not improving.

Re: Drink water injury
Champ Manager has a lot to answer for, we can't just add a manager and then get them to sell all Chelsea/City/UTD young talents to us for peanuts. pretty much any 18-23 yr olds good enough for the PL are out of our scope fee and increasingly now wages also.
Re: Drink water injury
League position is only one of a number of factors (hence the Bury example, I don't think spending so much that you have no club would be viewed as a success, even if they did get promoted).Spijed wrote:But surely a transfer window should be judged on how successful you are. Would spending an extra £50 million have got us higher than 7th in all likelihood?
We always seem to survive with a bit to spare as well
There's also the long term impact to consider. Have we budgeted correctly, have we wasted money (not every signing is going to work out but if a lot aren't then it can still be an issue), have we signed a good range of youth and experience so that we'll have a decent team in years to come, etc.
It's working fine at the moment but there are some potential issues on the horizon such as the average age of the team creeping up. We can't afford to just sign short-term fixes, we also need to be signing players who will be first team ready in a year or two.
Re: Drink water injury
There's always going to be the odd example that can be cherry-picked to try and show that there are young players available who are both good enough to improve our team and within our budget. I don't think Guendouzi is one of them though, unless you think we can compete with Arsenal for players.jojomk1 wrote:As an example Guendouzi cost Arsenal 7m

...Tarks for £3m
Keane for £3m
JBG - £1.5m
Pope - £1.5m
Barnes - £0.5m
Heaton - free
Arfield - free
McNeil - free
etc etc
Arsenal are paying Ozil about £250k a week aren't they ?
Didn't they also pay £50m for a centre back that sits on their bench now and the same amount for a keeper who is no better than our cheap buys ?
Its very easy to pick isolated bargains out at all clubs - but its even easier to pick out their expensive failures.

BOYSIE31-- you are definitely in the wrong job, I heard that Zidane is wanting to retire, you must be a shoe in for his job with your wide knowledge of what should and should not be happening in a football club. The pay is quite good as well.
You are definitely wasted on here.

Can’t be arsedgoing back further than this page but somebody above has asked what the injury is.
Sky afternoon papers are saying he rolled his ankle, non-football, and is out for a week.
Apologies if it is on page 3 of thread.

But honestly. You can see why he only got a 6 months deal now.
Hopefully this will be enough to get his act together, but you would have though losing his driving license would be enough to make him realise he needs to step away from the lads nights out.
I said it after I watched his signing video, a bad egg this guy. Really hope I'm wrong.

Need to get him to AA as he seems to have a problem with the demon drink but lacks the skills of a George Best who could even play when ******
I think we should be grateful he goes back in January with that attitude
Does he thinks getting leathered is what a Prof player can do during a season
Hope he can have his salary docked for this behaviour

Last chance saloon, no pun intended.
Any more nonsense and it has to be bye bye. We're doing him a favour by giving him the chance to get fit and playing again not the other way round.

Big difference between alcohol dependence and the tendency to act like a bellend in the pubs. AA would need to hire the Gmex for its meetings if it came to trying talk sense into gobsh1tes and yobs.

Re: Drink water injury
Sounds like an absolute cretin, and it’s being reported far too specifically all over the shop to not be very close to what happened (and, let’s be right, this is the same idiot that got banned for 20 months for driving into a building whilst TWICE the limit).
He has shown a total lack of respect for our club or our offer to help him get his career back on track. The loan deal was only until January which means if he’s now out for four weeks (let’s say, first week in October) he will be a million miles from the levels Dyche demands of his squad, and probably won’t play another game for us I imagine.
What a massive shame this is. On the face of it, he looked an unbelievably good signing for us. I wouldn’t beat about the bush, IF this story is true then make an example of the fool and send him back publicising the reason why.
