Its a win-win situation for us really, as I said already we could be a lot worse off IF things don't work out and we signed him permanently. This way he has a trial to get his ass back in to gear and if he doesn't, we offload in the Jan. If he does get his ass into gear then its likely his transfer fee will be diminished quite a lot given this debacle.

I just hope we are tracking targets already for the January transfer window.

it's Drinkwater's last chance in the PL. He'll never get back into the Chelsea team which is no big deal, if he can't get into the Burnley team then he's finished at this level. His attitude needs to be spot on from now on and I hope for our sake it will be.

If he'd have played so brilliantly Chelsea wanted him back in Jan or they get offers for him the win is he has performed brilliantly for us for half a season. If he'd have done well but not amazing the win would have been potentially getting him to the end of the season as a good and much needed squad player and if he was rubbish the lesser win is well at least we wasted little money and can offload in Jan and look for someone better

I think you are looking at it too negatively. First, we already are going to have a problem filling our bench with Brady returning to fitness. With Bardsley already missing out to Drinkwater on our bench against Liverpool. If Lowton got injured, who would have replaced him?

Secondly, McNeil can play centre midfield, in fact, he has mostly played centre midfield until his call up to the first team.

Its win-win compared to it being a permanent signing, that's all I'm saying. If it was permanent then there would be no reason for Drinkwater to try and get his act together at all.

Glad to hear that Drinkwater will be allowed to stay, get match fit and then fight for a place in the team. I, like many others, was pleased to get back-up in an area where we are light in numbers.
On the playing side, DD was a member of the title winning Leicester team which was the epitome of the "whole being greater than the sum of the parts". However, they did have Kante, Vardy and Mahrez. DD was rewarded for his part by a big money move to Chelsea and we all know the outcome of that. Football is littered with this type of move, after a good World Cup, Euro etc. and, before I am reminded of his England status, remember that Stuart Ripley represented his country and Jimmy Adamson didn't.
