BFC Museum

Post by evensteadiereddie » Thu Sep 05, 2019 7:47 pm

I've just been looking on Wikipedia researching something on Turf Moor and the entry closes with

"On 26 June 2014 the club unveiled a planning application for extensions to the Turf Moor front entrance including the rebuilding of the official Club Shop containing a first floor museum.[5]"

The Club Shop has, of course, been redeveloped and improved beyond recognition. What happened to the museum plans ? I think it would be a hell of an attraction if it could be housed somewhere, sometime.

For what it's worth, my most interesting BFC - related items are three railway travel handbills, one to Bristol City in 1902, one to the English Cup, as was, Semi Final replay in 1913 and, of course, the Final in 1914.

The club, of course, has many fascinating relics on show in the Foundation/ Conference Rooms area. Has anybody on here anything that is particularly dear to them or, even better, of potentially museum standard ?

Museum idea was scrapped. The first floor is used by Burnley FC in the Community.

That's a shame. Is that scrapped completely - never going to happen - or possible if space permits ?

Not going to happen. It’s one of those typical Burnley things. They tell you something is going to happen and then it doesn’t.
