Got back into reading myself and although not sci-fi but crime fiction NYPD Red, I am on book 2 and it got me gripped so much so I had dreams about it vivid ones like the people in the book came to life probably because I was reading till 2am and went straight asleep but still that’s how gripped I was by it ha ha ha.

i'd say the best 3 'culture' novels are:

3 - excession
2 - the player of games
1 - use of weapons

it would be great if hollywood made a film of one of these instead of the usual mediocre superhero/star wars pap.

I'm not a big sci-fi reader, but one I did enjoy very much was Extracted by RR Haywood. There are two others in the series too - Executed and Extinct, which I will get around to reading some day.

Mostly I tend to lean towards fantasy ~ anything by Frances Hardinge usually tickles my fancy - especially Cuckoo Song, which is probably my favourite ever read.
