Lancashire promoted

Post by lakedistrictclaret » Thu Sep 12, 2019 5:59 pm

Just beaten Derbyshire by an innings and 45 and thereby made promotion mathematically certain.

And work to be done now. We have to be at least good enough not to go down again. But a really good response to last season’ relegation.

Let’s hope Lancashire cricket club try and compete in div 1 and not just concentrate on test cricket and pop concerts at Old Trafford up the colne

Yo Yo club ?

Major changes required to compete. Onions and Anderson at the end of their careers, overseas players propping up the batting.

Need to splash the cash again to stay up.

Assuming Gloucestershire lose and Northamptonshire win tomorrow, as seems likely, we need six points from two games to take the title.

Yep should wrap the title up against Middlesex next week,we want to finish the season in style and keep the feelgood factor.

Yorkshire got well beaten at Somerset so their slim title hopes are over what a shame

I'm sure that we will cope bodge.

Glad to see that your lot managed a humiliating 300 run defeat against Somerset.

You need to bring Sir Geoffrey back to hit something.

Hopefully resign Maxwell who has been excellent.

Another top quality batsman is also needed though.

Following todays two results, Lancashire now need just 5 points from the home fixture next week against Middlesex, and the final game versus Leicestershire, at Grace Road, to win the 2nd Division title ....

Why do they play only 14 games??? 10 teams in the division, play everyone twice, should be 18 games or am I going mental???

Meanwhile Yorkshire chasing leather most of the day, after having Kent 39-5 at one stage, before Stevens and Billings went crazy 482-8 at the close.

I think they might just offer Stevens another year on these performances, shows age is just a number.

I think it is because of the split divisions with only 8 in Div one play 14 but 10 in Div 2 and only play 14 as other competitions all 18 play the same games.
If the second Division played 18 4 day matches there would be fixture congestion due to the additional 20 fixtures

Ah. Right. Fair enough. However, surely it could skew the league table depended on who you don't play though?
