Looking at setting up the smart lighting and wondering if anybody has done this and what their thoughts are?

Looking at the TV with Ambilight and like the idea of integrating it with the lighting around the tv also if anyone has done this?

It's a great way for the Philips lighting division to make money!
It works well at first though but after a while I find you don't notice it

I have it set up in my home office for alerts and I've set it up in strategic points in the house to make it look like we're around when we aren't.

The interface is a little clunky, but it works well.

I've got quite a bit of the connected home stuff but I find these lights are the best bit so far.

They're very easy to use and, most of the time, don't seem that smart in that they're not controlled by an app or whatever.

I have some set up with these switches


to replace the current light switches (they look a bit neater than that).

Some automatically turn on around sunset and turn off at night so even when I'm away it appears I'm home. The ones in my hallway are controlled by motion sensors so automatically turn on and off when I'm in the hall (and at night time they turn on at a much lower brightness). When my kitchen timer reaches zero the lights in the living room will flash to notify me and a few other things like that. If it's going to rain that day one of the lights will be blue in the morning, etc.

On top of that there is the voice and smartphone control which can be useful.

With the costs of doing it all over I’d probably just keep adding additional lights around the house and replacing the “normal” ones but its always better to get the opinion of those who have used them than some random reviews.

I can imagine that being a problem if one resident is trying to knit while the other is watching the football.

The option can be turned on/off. So the tv would be just as normal most of the time.

Not all that keen on watching lightning on TV but must confess to missing the first few episodes
Is there a box set available yet?
