Pope - 7 fine, goal was a good finish

Lowton - 5
Tarkowski - 5 completely left maupay for their goal
Mee - 6
Pieters - 5 not very good, doesn't give us enough gping forward

Cork - 6
Westwood - 5 doing a cork, after hitting the heights last season, he's been poor so far this
Lennon - 5 booking was poor refereeing
McNeil - 5

Wood - 4
Barnes - 4

Rodriguez - 4
Hendrick - 7 always wanted the ball and tried to make stuff happen; cracking strike to equalise.

First 25 mins we were really good but you have to score when you're on top. Brighton made the change and came back into it but didn't really get on top until they scored. From then we were poor but hung in there and our equaliser is a lovely goal, back to front, on the deck.

Brighton are junk but there's no easy away games for us at this level so it's another good point.

Having not seen the game or read a report yet. Did Brighton create a lot of chances? I ask as a few have given the defence 4s which I’m guessing means we were very lucky to get a point and were bombarded with chances.

Did not go
However if a team away from home concedes 0 or 1 goal surely the goalkeeper and back 4
should not receive less than 6 ( which is average) as their job Is to defend.
They kept the home side down to 1 goal.
Just my opinion of course

What if the defenders let the opponents have a million shots on target and they score none.

Pope- 5- kicking looked poor tonight, not much else to say.

Lowton- 6- neither looks as solid as Bardsley did last year defending or attacking. What happened to his first time crossing?
Tarks- 5 looses one for the goal, lost Maupay and didn't communicate with the other defenders despite the best view of the situation
Mee- 6- slightly more consistent but did not organise the defense well enough at times.
Pieters- 5- looks to be the weak link at the minute, similar to Lowton but we have Taylor to come back who is younger and improving.

Lennon- 6 worked hard but didn't get released enough in the right situation, not playing to his strengths.
Westwood -5- struggled to impose himself in the game, we created very little and stopped very little from being created. Wasteful in possession.
Cork-6 see Westwood but slightly better.
McNeil-5 created a few chances early on and then went missing, lacked awareness for the man crossing for the goal.

Barnes- 5 never in the game.
Wood- 5 never in the game, wasted the only real chance.

If there's a match for trotting out the 4's for some of the players then that was it.

We were dreadful all over the park and it's easily the worst we have played this year.

I'm glad that after giving my opinion, it's a similar opinion to the rest that viewed it....

Must be annoying telling everyone what to think but actually being majorly in the minority.

I'm sure anyone who actually watched that today will recognise it was way short if a premier league display, and that we were extremely fortunate to get a point.

I’m not saying we weren’t fortunate to get a point but the overreaction yet again, as it was against Liverpool, is sadly turning the Player Ratings into a farce.

If 7 is good
6 is average
5 is below par.

Then no one who played is worth more than 5.

We were hanging on for a downward helter skelter ride.

One minute of quality play rescued a point.

Tony does a great job with this site but must allow others to have an opinion.
After the 1st 20 minutes we were very poor today, but Brighton werent much better.
The only time we tried to play football we scored our equsliser.
Great Chinese tonight at Mr Hau’s in Eastbourne and a few beers in Spoons.
Will take a point as we mugged them as Wolves did us. Deserved 3 pts over the 2 games but got just 2. Thats football I suppose

Depends what you call an over reaction.

In my opinion I dont think there were many players who played "good" and there were many who were "average" or lower.

If I'd watched that on sky today as a neutral I'd have thought in no way was that a premier league side playing we were way, way short of even acceptable.

Now fast forward to the 17.30 game and see a supposedly, weaker poorer side put in the sort of effort and display that should be mandatory for a side as establishment as ours.

We can often question form, quality etc, but effort, application and basic football skills should be a given, sadly today they wasn't

Just hope SD recognises that, as we cannot afford to do that too many times this season, even more so in the next 2 games!

From watching live on NBCSN over here:
Pope 7 - Very confident with Pope in goal, and like that he can clear with both feet, but his kicking was very wayward today.
Lowton 7 - Liked his efforts to get forward.
Tarks 6 - Seemed below his usual high standards
Mee 6 - As with Tarks
Pieters 5 - Looked unsure of himself
Cork 5 - Struggled to get involved, should have hit the target with the close range shot that Wood just failed to connect with in first half.
Westwood 6 - Busy as always but passes/crosses not of normal standard.
McNeil 5 - Couple of runs early on but really failed to cause much of a threat and only a halfhearted attempt to block the cross for their goal.
Lennon 5 - I'd prefer Hendrick to start if JBG is not fit. Aaron never seems to be fully in control of the ball at any time and crossing is hit or miss
Wood 5 - Off the pace.
Barnes 5 - Was he feeling his groin injury? Certainly not his usual self, even though their central defenders had good games.

Hendrick 8 - Made a difference and superbly struck goal.
JayRod 6 - Made a bit of a difference.
Vydra - Not long enough to mark but he seemed very enthusiastic and he's a slippery character. Lovely confident flick to set up Jeff for the leveller.

As someone else said, for me this was Wolves in reverse. I though the Wolves game was a terrific almost "classic" Burnley away performance, but the last-gasp penalty left me totally deflated. With this game, I thought that after the first 20 minutes we were disjointed and sluggish, as if we were still feeling the effects of the end to that last away game, and I could not see a goal coming - but the great move for the stoppage-time equalizer left me feeling like it was a win and positive again.

Norwich were good no doubt, make no mistake though that's the worst Man City performance since Pep took charge. At one stage I was looking for Paul Dickov up front instead of Aguero !

First 20 minutes we looked like world beaters, but didn't really hurt them. There on after we were very poor, miles off it intact.
However we nicked a 90th minute equaliser with a fantastic strike from our only shot on target. To see those self righteous , self important southern top hats in tears again over a Burnley side should mean all our players automatically get a 10. However back in the real world

Pope 8 MOM
Lowton 5
Tarkowski 8

Didnt say anything about the result, however effort , application and performance should be a given. After nearly all of th first team had 2 weeks off an no real game time, we should have been well up for it and on it, sadly we were miles off it.

Like I said, let's just hope next week these " one offs" for us, and "freak results" for them dont happen again.

Because our last few games weve looked nothing like a usual Burnley side.

Or to put it more accurately and less dramatic we played poorly for 70 minutes of one game, should have beaten Wolves comfortably, did beat Southampton comfortably, got beaten by the champions of Europe after playing excellently for the first 30 minutes and got beaten (but played very well) against an Arsenal team with the best part of £200m of forwards in their team.

But other than that your spot on as usual !

Here he is....
The guy who doesnt read/understand the post.

I'll write it again.

Last few games we've looked nothing like a usual Burnley side.

The reason I wrote "last few" and not "this season", is because I watched the games you mentioned and we looked very good v Arsenal and Wolves and deserved more from them, and looked very much like the Burnley side we know.
But if you think last few games have been on par with the first few then I accept your opinion, but sadly can't agree with it.

So to coin your phrase, but other than that you're spot on as usual...

Struggling to see why Lennon is being singled out. I really think McNeil was poor today, lacked intensity. The game just passed him by! For all his faults (and he hasn't really had a really strong game yet as A Burnley player) Lennon appears to put himself about and get stuck in.

Dont get me wrong I think McNeil has quality, hes just slow out of the blocks this year. Maybe we need Taylor back in?

I didn't get to the Amex yesterday - and didn't watch on a stream. Rebecca Myers, ratings in the Sunday Times match report contrast a little from many posters on here.

Burnley: Pope 7, Lowton 6, Tarkowski 7, Mee 7, Pieters 7, Lennon 6 (Hendrick 58min, 8), Cork 7 (Vydra 77min, 6), Westwood 7, McNeil 6, Wood 6 (Rodriguez 65min, 6), Barnes 7
