Grosicki?
Wondered whether folk think Grosicki would have been worth the extra million?
For me football has plenty of gamblers, boozers, druggies and wife beaters. We might have a few of our own. He looks exciting every time I see him and I wish we’d taken the risk.

Re: Grosicki?
Its not just about the money, it's the lifestyle he leads and the effect that or he could have on the group.
As seen with DD, it's just as important how you are off the field as you are on it.
If you're in debt to the tune of 1m , as a relatively unknown footballer, it doesn't sound too good.
With strict gambling rules over here etc, and how easy it is to spiral out if control, I'm glad we didnt risk it.
I'd say moving countries, on better money, with more a lone time, and not many people around you and possibly even a language barrier isn't a great recipe for a gambling addict.

Re: Grosicki?
Wasn't the issue (one of the issues) that the selling club thought Burnley would take over responsibility for Grosicki's gambling debts? That doesn't sit well with Sean Dyche's "he's an adult, he knows what he needs to do..... (or similar words).Tricky Trevor wrote:Wondered whether folk think Grosicki would have been worth the extra million?

Down near the bottom of the Championship? I think McNeill, Brady, JBG and Hendrick are doing better.Tricky Trevor wrote:Wondered whether folk think Grosicki would have been worth the extra million?

Re: Grosicki?
Comment I saw from a Hull fan was that he must be the only Pole in England without a work ethic!

I think that’s about right. Believe it was Dyche who pulled the plug on it.Paul Waine wrote:Wasn't the issue (one of the issues) that the selling club thought Burnley would take over responsibility for Grosicki's gambling debts? Re: Grosicki?
I look around at some ofthe players we were actively negotiating for and many here moaned that we should have stumped up a few more million to get over the line eg:
Grosicki
Andone
Adams
When you see what they're doing now I find myself quite happy with our sensible recruitment.

There’s only one player at Hull that I’ve wanted and his surname rhymes with Owen!!! Amazed he wasn’t bought by anyone in the summer.

Spoke to some Brighton fans yesterday about Andone. They weren’t sorry to see him go out on loan for the season.CombatClaret wrote:I look around at some ofthe players we were actively negotiating for and many here moaned that we should have stumped up a few more million to get over the line eg:

Re: Grosicki?
Wasn't part of it that the deal was about to be done and then someone upped the price by £1m? As I understood it, there was a strong desire by both Board and manager that Burnley shouldn't become known as a soft touch who can be taken to the cleaners.Tricky Trevor wrote:Wondered whether folk think Grosicki would have been worth the extra million?

Re: Grosicki?
It was close to being done but then his club wanted us to take on his substantial gambling debts. Nothing I know of regarding the price being upped and weren't the debts considerably more than a million? From what I was told, the chairman was happy to push the deal through, Dyche said no.dsr wrote:Wasn't part of it that the deal was about to be done and then someone upped the price by £1m? I thought it was Mike Garlick that pulled the plug at the 11th hour Tony? Doesn't really matter its historyClaretTony wrote:It was close to being done but then his club wanted us to take on his substantial gambling debts. Re: Grosicki?
Maybe. Either way, the cost to Burnley FC had been agreed and then went up at the eleventh hour.ClaretTony wrote:It was close to being done but then his club wanted us to take on his substantial gambling debts. Not from what I was told but it’s well in the past now. Wasn’t it 2016?Bosscat wrote:I thought it was Mike Garlick that pulled the plug at the 11th hour Tony? Doesn't really matter its history
