Relegation in the Argentine Primera División

Post by aggi » Mon Sep 16, 2019 2:09 pm

I came across this whilst reading another article.

It seems that teams in the Argentine Primera División are relegated based on the average of their previous three seasons' points (if you've played fewer, i.e. because of promotion or relegation then they average based on number of top flight seasons in the past three years).

Looking at the 2018 premier league it would go from Swansea, Stoke and West Brom being relegated to Brighton, Huddersfield and West Brom being relegated.

An interesting idea that mainly seems designed to protect the more established teams from relegation if they have a bad season. I'm surprised Gartside never tried to introduce it over here.
