Brilliant interview with him on five live that music loves and northerners especially will be able to relate to and love.

Heard him speak several times. He talks sense. His music is damned good too!

And was in early Pulp. Off to see him at Albert Hall Manchester next month, can't wait.

I thought he played with Pulp once they'd peaked and was on the way down. Did he play with them in the 80's era?

Played occasionally very early 90's just before they hit the big time

Never knew that. His n Hers one of my top 10 albums and the Pulp Intro singles & b-sides collection is also ace. Live On was the only early 90s tune I was really into by them

Coles Corner is in my top 5, most probably top 3 albums ever. Absolutely incredible.

Interviewed Richard a few times in my Sheffield Telegraph days. His was a slow burning career that just took off with that Coles Corner Record. Saw him promo that in Fopp Records store and a few weeks later he was playing the largest venue at South by South West supporting Morrissey. Top company over a Guinness in Fagans. Great to see him and his great team of session musicians doing so well, as he said to me a couple of times: ‘aye it’s not bad for a lad with a hair lip from Pitsmoor.’
