Staggering stats from Saturday
Dont know if I'm more shocked at the stats, or the way we played with the players who've got these stats between them...

...or how meaningless or misleading stats can be!
Re: Staggering stats from Saturday
Agreed, if you'd have left out Sean Dyche and Burnley from the wording it sounds a classy outfit doesn't it.
That's with the likes of Ward, Vokes, Wells, Crouch and Walter's gone, which would have only pushed those figures considerably higher.

Guess using the same criteria, you could pull the stats of the sides we were putting out 15 years ago and be equally shocked about them too.

I'm struggling with who apart from Hart has played Champions League.

But the vast majority of those 56 appearances will be Hart.

Re: Staggering stats from Saturday
Staggering maybe but I would guess that two thirds of the international appearances started on the bench and a high number of the starting eleven would be Chris Wood for NZ and two players, Lennon and Pieters who are no longer internationals

I've wasted enough of my time reading them and posting them on here for discussion.

Suppose we do have a habit of strengthening the bench rather than the starting 11 in recent windows

I make it 2,716 PL appearances not 2,717. To whom shall I complain or seek clarification?

Not Pieters. Would think the highest would be Hart & Hendrick.Down_Rover wrote:Staggering maybe but I would guess that two thirds of the international appearances started on the bench and a high number of the starting eleven would be Chris Wood for NZ and two players, Lennon and Pieters who are no longer internationals
Re: Staggering stats from Saturday
Vydra played international didn't he? Jay Rod, Tarks, McNeil (do they class under 18's?) Cork, Lennon, Pope, Wood, Hendrik, Hart, Brady, Gibbson, Bardsley, Barnes
Or is it easier to say all the squad have international appearances lol

Re: Staggering stats from Saturday
Brady was in the squad, he will have a fair chunk of caps too I'd have thought

Re: Staggering stats from Saturday
It's hard to know whether those are based on actual apps vs in the squad for matches.
Hart got 1st choice at City in 2010 in which since City have played 16 times in the Europa until he left and 42 Champs League games. I cba seeing if he's in the squad for those mind. Spurs played 8 CL games whilst Lennon was there and 70 Uefa Cup/Europa games. Take our qualifiers from last season too 18 players x 6 games = 108. Some players wouldn't have been in the squad vs Brighton mind.
Harts Europa 16* + Lennons 70* Europa + last seasons qualifiers 108 = 194 (Give or take Heatons, Walters, etc)
Harts CL 42* + Lennons CL 8* = 50
*Based on them being fit and in the actual squad
Lennon was also on loan at Everton so presume they'd have played in the Europa at some point when he was there plus Pieters at Stoke??

Re: Staggering stats from Saturday
Hart had 40 CL appearances with Man City
Lennon had 10 with Spurs
Pieters had 3 with PSV
Bardsley had 3 with Man Utd
All according to Wikipedia.

Re: Staggering stats from Saturday
Welcome to the post truth world folks.
Watch out because in the world of post truth anything can actually be true and not mean a thing.
Did you know?
The average number of legs per human being is actually slightly less than 2?
The UK has only elected 1 of its last 4 Prime Ministers yet the UN somehow still claims it is a “functioning democracy”
Nobody has ever ever died from cannabis
And even more shocking:
Most corn flakes are made in the USA

I was just commenting that Pieters is an ex international in the starting XI and that most of our caps that started are NZ or retiredClaretTony wrote:Not Pieters. Would think the highest would be Hart & Hendrick.
Do you think he may return?

Cornflakes were invented as an attempt to stop people masturbating.

Apparently having a curry or a mexican makes you more likely to shake one out than bland boring food....
There are definitely a few on here overdosing on the old spicy stuff ... I now know why I love Curry

I'm not sure the idea is to bat one out into the cornflakes, tufty, but it would likely enhance the flavour.

Re: Staggering stats from Saturday
Not sure why anyone is staggered by the stats. Under Dyche we have continued to evolve with more and more international players allayed to our stays in the Prem.MACCA wrote:Dont know if I'm more shocked at the stats, or the way we played with the players who've got these stats between them...
As for the way we played with them, we have probably had one poor half all season. Did you catch Man City’s performance last week with a ~half billion pound squad (probably more). It is always possible to play poorly with a quality team....
