Apply that to every sport and we never need to watch any England team ever again.Blyclaret wrote:England not good enough.

At least Boris Johnson won't be spending the next 6 weeks taking credit for an historic victory just as he tried to take all the credit for masterminding the Olympics.

Re: Rugby World Cup
They weren't allowed to play thanks to some awful refereeing. They became desperate towards the end which allowed SA to appear better than they were.Buxtonclaret wrote:Very disappointing, after last week's performance.

England thought they only needed to turn up to win this match.. Hilarious.

Totally outplayed in every department. Ref was poor but England were shocking. Well done to Springboks.

Congrats to South Africa deserved winners.
The ref actually improved second half.
There are some bellends posting on here. England have beaten Australia and New Zealand just to get to the final and they get dogs abuse, on here, cos they can’t go to the well 3 weekends running. Juan Kerrs

Re: Rugby World Cup
Complete reverse of last weekend. SA won and got everything. We gave England massive credit for last weekend and how they stopped NZ. None of this NZ were ****. Let’s give SA the same credit and respect. Well done.

Apologises to all genuine Rugby Union fans that post on here, obviously ive been on a wind up ..Just getting my own back for the ill mannered comments I've seen about rugby league when I've put posts up.. I actually don't mind Union if played properly.. Of course I wanted England to beat SA.. Schite happens though..

Re: Rugby World Cup
Never got going all match really but there were a few key points that lost us the match:
Losing Sinclair
Not getting a try after 25 phases in the first half
Missing the kick in the 2nd half when just 6 behind
Refs allowing the first try which was a clear forward pass - that was game over
There was one ridiculous nock on decision when the English guy had the ball on the floor. The refs gave us nothing marginal tbh.
Definitely not embarrassing but the better defensive team won the game

You only have to look around and realise that there isn't as much interest in comparison to football.
No flags in windows, or in cars etc.
Basically it'll all be forgotten about in a couple of days.

Not really, though. It’s a mere expression of a preference between one code and another. One can have that preference irrespective of how successful that Teams playing that sport have been internationally.Hapag Lloyd wrote:Being as Alfi is a massive rugby league fan and slates union at every opportunity, then yes.

Re: Rugby World Cup
I can confirm I have never in my life watched a full game of Rugby League. I have seen snippets here and there, thought it’s not for me and ignored accordingly.
When you get a great game of Rugby Union like the semi final or when you watch the all blacks in full flow it is excellent. Today’s game was like a defensive team doing a park the bus job in a football match and was pretty poor to watch. Not for the purists but I think it is fair to say that football finals are not always the best games.....

Tedious game but England clearly well beaten by a powerful team with an effective game plan. I’m just happy it’s over now and I can go back to listening to radio 5 in the morning without hours of hysterical over-hyped bullcrap “Kyle Sinkler’s PE teacher.... what it’s been like watching this World Cup” etc etc etc
In other news a pretty astonishing rugby league result today with Tonga beating Australia 16-12 !

Re: Rugby World Cup
Interesting that people here are moaning about the ref. On the TV there was little criticism, in fact the pundits on rugby rarely criticise the refs. If football media pundits had the same approach we wouldn’t be stuck with VAR.

Re: Rugby World Cup
Deserved win for SA,amazing defence once more, shut all England's options down, and took their chances when they came. The Boks have played Japan,Wales and England in the KO stages,240 minutes of rugby and only conceded 1 try, that's why they've lifted the William Webb Ellis trophy.
Disappointing as it is to lose the final, you have to remember the shambles Eddie Jones inherited 4 years ago,i think most English fans would have scoffed at the idea of reaching a WC final 4 years hence.
Victories over the Aussies and a 1st ever WC win against the all blacks probably lifted expectations, but England are in a good place to challenge for the 6 Nations for several years, and build again for 2023.
Looking ahead to the 6 Nations on paper it should be a shoot-out between England and Wales for the title, however Italy apart there's usually a shock or two.

Best side won on the day, that's sport as far as I'm concerned. We ( obviously I wasn't playing) got absolutely South Africaed. Still on the bright side a couple of hundred people in the clubhouse and the tills were ringing.

Re: Rugby World Cup
Best side won. Unfortunately, England gave too much in beating the Kiwis last weekend. Referee was poor, but South Africa would have won anyway.
Beat Australia and New Zealand, unlucky to have to come up against a South Africa who peaked at exactly the right time.
Can't complain, really.
P.S. as someone who played both codes, playing rugby league was much better - it was impossible to catch your breath when playing union, but I'm a Wiganer who played as a forward
