Trump's Impeachment

So. Trump's made a promise on a phone call to the Ukrainian president that prompted an intelligence official to make use of whistleblower protections to inform the Inspector General of this latest threat to national security. The inspector general, by law, is required to inform congress of this threat because it meets the threshold of "urgent concern". But for some reason, Trump's handpicked and unconfirmed acting Director of National Intelligence has intervened and prevented congress from being informed of Trump's latest corruption.

What promise could trump have made? Well, since the new Ukrainian president took office Trump has been trying to extort him and his country by denying them military aid while also pressuring him into instructing Ukrainian prosecutors into investigating Trump's political opponent Joe Biden. Who wants to bet that Trump promised him US military aid in return for personal political favours like this?

Any of you still fans of this guy? Is "owning the libs" really worth it if it means supporting this?

That’s not the point. It’s a football related message board, time to have a football area, and an ‘anything else’ area.

Just don’t open the threads that are clearly not about football.
Job done.

Some people are kinda pathetic and can't control themselves though. They need an authority figure to make their decisions for them. Just look at his complaint, for example. Not only is it not his fault that he can't prevent himself from opening a thread he's clearly not interested in, but he's actually upset that other people are interested in it and wants other people to remove their interest from his view. It's truly pathetic.

No doubt he's also someone who whines about the "nanny state".

While there seems to be no doubt there was requests by
Giuliani on behalf of Trump to look into Biden and his son, it's conjecture at the moment to link it explicitly to blocking foreign aid or that the whistleblowers complaint was connected to extortion directly on the phone to the Ukrainian president. He'd have to be even thicker than he appears to be to do that. I'm not saying corruption's not at play here, but you seem to have put singular pieces of evidence into a jigsaw that tells the story you want to be true without definitive proof. Cutting foreign aid for instance and favouring the Russian cause, is hardly inconsistent with his political position is it?

That said it's bad enough that any request would be made to a foreign government to meddle in domestic affairs, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was more to come. Is the request linked to a threat to remove foreign aid, or a quid pro quo, and the personal phone call from Trump? Well we don't know yet, do we. Not a defense of Trump, but I think there's a lot of murky water here that needs filtering.

Imploding Turtle won't be having that. He wouldn't get as much attention if there was a separate sub-forum for political threads.

You do realise that if it wasn’t for people complaining he’s attention seeking he’d only get about half the attention he does don’t you?

Ha.. yeah. Never gonna happen now. Trump (and Brexit) have people so entrenched it really doesn't matter what he's done or admitted to, nobody is changing their mind at this stage. Much rather the world burn than lose face on the internet.

He could launch a drone strike on an orphanage in Swindon and he'd still get defended by half the UK*.

Possibly! But then the radical left/hard right (delete as appropriate) took it to the Supreme Court and, hey presto, we’re still without a solution.

Or is that another discussion......

You know the journey is more fun than the destination, I have a feeling it will be his tax returns or Stormy Daniels payment that will bring him down but he now has to go on trial in front of the entire world. I remember when they impeached Clinton.

It'll be very difficult for his advisers to stop him digging his grave with his own teeth.
