Green beans.
Deep fried onion rings.
Triple cooked chips
Spring onion mash
Peppercorn sauce.
Starter was a duo of fish.
Sea bass.
Salmon fish cake.
Salad with sweet chillie sauce
Free amouse bouchée was lancs cheese melt with carrot and coriander soup.
Best meal I have had for years.

Yes it's good in there, the lounge is decent as well next door if you want some simple but good grub in a relaxed atmosphere.Lowbankclaret wrote:Well it was the rib-eye.

It's all in the quality of the ingredients they use.

It's very good in there, relaxed atmosphere and quality simple grub. Even a little out door area for the kids or beer in the sun.
Give the sizzling skillet wrap thingy a try next time, was very good.

The work that goes into food photography is crazy. Pictures you see in advertising are never the actual food you get. Eg, Motor oil is used instead of syrup on pancakes as it doesn’t soak in like syrup and gives a better shine for the photos.Steve1956 wrote:Will this thread get a bit like those on Facebook, were you post pictures of your dinners and everyone says yum yum that looks lovely when in fact it looks like a dog has shat on their plate ?
So when people go out and take pictures of what they have had they all look completely awful.

I'm safely assuming you work for Crow Wood Lowbank, so well done and keep up the good work!!
(Actually I've had lunch at Bertram's two or three times and the food IS good and the view is stunning and a great advert for where we live. Robbie Brady was having his lunch there a couple of weeks ago according to my son's girlfriend who was on the next table)

We used to go to the three fishes and the Eagle at Barrow which is always good.
Been to Bertrams twice and both times it’s been amazing.
I don’t mind putting positive feedback out there when I feel it’s deserved.

Chik Inn is an odd one because it actually tastes quite good, it’s just the shop that smells like pure gasoline.

Re: Bertrams at Crow wood
The plank of wood or slab of slate was the 'emperor's new clothes' for a while in ThatLondon, but soon went out of fashion and many quickly reverted back to civilisation, but elsewhere it lingers on like an old fart. Nowadays it can be found in places that try too hard, yet fail. I have no idea as to why it took off in the first place. Maybe a piece of flint to cut your steak with, or a seashell instead of a soup spoon, will be the next trend before everyone points and laughs.Bosscat wrote:Like having your food served on an old slate or plank of wood ffs its about time these trendy ideas were put back in the drawer (or on the roof)

I don’t see the problem with replacing plates with other stuff to serve food on.Billy Balfour wrote:The plank of wood or slab of slate was the 'emperor's new clothes' for a while in ThatLondon, but soon went out of fashion and many quickly reverted back to civilisation, but elsewhere it lingers on like an old fart. Birdcages seem to be de rigour in Manchester’s eateries these days . With these seemingly ubiquitous “ 2 hour brunch/lunch/dinner” things where birds ( no pun intended) get a birdcage of food and 2 hours of cocktails before being turned out for the next sitting 30 mins after

For occasions there are three.
Bertrams.
Eagle at Barrow
Bonny Inn.
Lunch out.
Bonny inn,
Banny’s Fish and chips at Boundary mill.
Calf’s Head at Worston on a sunny day, loverly garden and outside seating with very affordable home made food.
I am sure there are lots more gems we don’t go to.
