Re: RATE THE REF - David Coote v Norwich city
Only watched on a dodgy stream but their CH should have gone and Ash defo had his shin kicked for a pen that VAR didn’t overturn. Coote was close enough to see it live and then VAR would have backed him.

Should be given 0s for not identifying the obvious clear penalty (WITH VIDEO ASSISTANT!) and bottling a 2nd yellow!

We thought we had a couple of good penalty shouts that were turned away but with no VAR intervention he must have got the decisions correct

Missed a blatant yellow on J Rod as we broke, and also a few var decisions he didnt even go too.
Wont be the worst we have all season, so happy overall

Very good apart from the complete cop out (aided and abetted by VAR) for not awarding as clear a penalty as you will see all weekend

I’ve seen the replay and he kicks Ash’s right shin, which is in the box and grounded, although most of the rest of him is outside.Marney&Mee wrote:Looked like it was outside the box.

On the basis of what I’ve seen only, no replays, Barnes was a blatant penalty and their centre half should have been sent off (twice).

Re: RATE THE REF - David Coote v Norwich city
Equally poor for both teams but that doesn’t make it right.
Barnes looked a clear penalty, the ref was actually pretending he couldn’t see Barnes on the floor holding his head.
Finally told the Norwich player to take the throw in from the right place, then just let him take it anyway.
Really poor.

Were there no VAR referrals or was it just the big screen didn’t say they were happening??

Allowing McNeil to walk off to the bench but then remembering the new rules for Barnes. Cracker.

Don’t get the high scores. I thought he was poor. Missed as blatant a penalty as you’ll see and how Amadou didn’t get sent off I’ve no idea...

He almost let Norwich get away with taking what was the most obvious of Burnley throws in front of the Bob Lord.

VAR is only active if a goal is scored, the referee gives a penalty or asks whether an offence warrants a red card. It isn't there to check on anything else.

Re: RATE THE REF - David Coote v Norwich city
He definitely bottled giving a second yellow for a clear yellow card offence, and I have to think that's because it was really late in the game and because it would have meant a sending off. That was poor from him, but ultimately immaterial. I'd also have to see the Barnes penalty shout again, but otherwise he did pretty well imo.

Re: RATE THE REF - David Coote v Norwich city
It said on comms it had gone to VAR and they stayed with his decision. It’s a “refs can’t be seen to be wrong” conspiracy. They overturn naff all.
The CH should have got a second yellow for the foul on Wood on the edge of the box and then again for the foul on JRod on the halfway line but very little cover about.

Utterly astonished that their no 24 stayed on until the end after two bootable offences in the second half and the incident where he blew his whistle to make Norwich take the throw in their own half then let them carry on after taking it in our half should never have happened. His assessor will take him to the cleaners for that.

If that penalty decision wasn’t a clear and obvious error then I don’t know what is.

Re: RATE THE REF - David Coote v Norwich city
I actually thought he let the game flow and didn’t get too much wrong generally. But the decisions to not award a penalty to Barnes and to not show a second yellow card to Amadou were shocking and were the only big calls he had to make. Fortunately they didn’t affect the result.

Re: RATE THE REF - David Coote v Norwich city
Very much in the mould of Michael Oliver. Decent ref but gets the big decisions badly wrong. The foul on Barnes whether in the area or not, was a clear foul, right in front of him. Not sending off amadou, twice, was really poor. Goid job neither decision cost us today.

Re: RATE THE REF - David Coote v Norwich city
Felt he tried to stay out of the game. Missed an obvious pen and bottled it for a second booking. At 2-0 down with no hope at coming back, I genuinely think he took pity on them and didn't award that second yellow.

Was it just me and being disappointed Mr Coote didn't have a shaved head......

Re: RATE THE REF - David Coote v Norwich city
The thing is, Amadou or whatever he's called clearly lost it and was lashing out a couple of times (like his first yellow) so it's not as if you have to give the player the benefit of the doubt for an innocent late challenge or anythingConroy92 wrote:Felt he tried to stay out of the game. I think the big screen is not bothering to tell us they are referring to VAR. I gave him the benefit of the doubt when marking because I assumed he'd got the Barnes decision right - he clearly hadn't.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:Were there no VAR referrals or was it just the big screen didn’t say they were happening??
