Marco Silva
Can anyone tell me why Everton preferred him to Dyche? Or what he has ever achieved? Trophies? Style?

Quite simply he is an inferior product to Dyche.

Re: Marco Silva
done nowt as player or manager, second or third tier at best. seems to be a lot of coaches around with little pedigree.
Brendan rogers baffled me, think his playing career was at its peak playing for a post office 3rd team in a Dublin sunday leage team.
Granted, he has done alright.

Rogers playing career was cut short before it really started by a genetic knee problem whilst at Reading.Wile E Coyote wrote:done nowt as player or manager, second or third tier at best. seems to be a lot of coaches around with little pedigree.

He has had a decent managerial career, mind.

yes i know, I was alluding to the fact there are more than a few others who have got top jobs without a track record as either player or manager.
Rogers does appear to know his onions though.

Re: Marco Silva
In my opinion that's no bad thing. A very high proportion of Managers are ex-players and as a generalisation, I've always felt that the 'second/third tier', journeyman players make the better Managers that naturally 'gifted' players from the 1st tier; I've always suspected that's because they've had to think/work to keep their playing jobs and can pass now pass on what they learnt, whereas the 'natural talents' don't know how they do it, they just can. I'd always choose a Shankley/Paisley over a Dalglish/Gerrard; a Wenger rather than Henry, or Ferguson over Robson/Keane; closer to home, I'll take SD every time over a return by Inchy or Chris WaddleWile E Coyote wrote:done nowt as player...second or third tier at best...

To never have won a game after going behind as Everton manager is fairly damming.

Re: Marco Silva
He makes some really baffling team choices and substitutions. Calvert-Lewin scored and was one of their better players in a poor performance at Bournemouth but then he doesn't make the team or even get brought on as a sub yesterday in favour of strikers who have done absolutely nothing. Team selection policy seems completely the opposite to SD where you keep the shirt if you play well. The only players who seem to keep their shirts are the defenders who have been woeful, Keane included.

Doesn’t matter how you wanna play or what better technical players they have nowadays. If you don’t replace Lakukus 20/25 goals a season you ain’t going anywhere. I mean Calvert Lewin shite.
Im tired of hearing about these young players at these bigger clubs that have “potential”. That’s all well and good if you have Van Nistelrooy or Shearer in your squad. But when Man Utd play Rashford or Everton C-L you have another 15 clubs who have better strikers as of this season. Rashford might be better than Barnes in 2 years. But right now he certainly isn’t.

Won the second league in Portugal with the mighty Estoril then took them to 5th in the top division and qualified for EuropeStayingup wrote:I've often wondered why clubs chase this guy. Has he been a success anywhere as a manager?
Won the Portuguese equivalent of the FA Cup with Sporting
Won the Greek Super League whilst bettering any start to a season by any European club in the 21st Century
Had a decent record at Hull given the circumstances, had a great record at Watford up until the Everton approach and fall out where things then went sour.
Had a decent win rate last year but whether he'll fully succeed at Everton this season is doubtful but his track record up to this season as a manager is nevertheless impressive.
When Dyche finally gets a bigger club than Burnley with a bigger budget and more expectation we'll see how he fares and whether his unbelievable success at Burnley is just a one off

Read this morning Koeman was sacked early on after defeats to Chelsea, United and Arsenal. They have this season lost to Villa, Bournemouth and Sheffield United.

Re: Marco Silva
This a good point. Allardyce, the ultimate pragmatist was sacked because of the attritional football, despite relatively satisfactory results. Silva's supposedly more expansive style has been an expensive failure. If they decide to make a change the club are likely, with some justification, to look at the most successful period in their recent history, under Moyes, and try and recreate that.kaptin1 wrote:Don’t want Silva being sacked as don’t want the Toffees coming sniffing around for Dyche

Re: Marco Silva
Clearly Everton would be a big step up for a manager like Dyche. But I genuinely feel that as long as we’re in the Premier League he will find it very difficult to leave us due to his job security, competitive salary and the autonomy he is given.

It took Dyche quite a while to win from behind in the premier league.

Howe and dyche are in the same boat , safe in their own se!f built kingdoms, I think Dyche is more ambitious than Eddie and as we all know he can't live out of the South coast.

Think the Everton fans gave their opinion at the end.
Can't spend that amount of money and play like that.
The line up, tactics and substitutions were baffling.
