Ashley’s Nose
What happened early in the first half with Ashley?
I’m assuming as there was no “outcry” from any of us it was accidental and he got a bloody nose somehow but now idea what happened.

There was a high boot by one of their players.

Re: Ashley’s Nose
According to Chris Boden, who has access to a monitor, it was a high boot, worse than Westwood’s at Brighton.

Re: Ashley’s Nose
From where we sat in cfs it was a blatant high boot. And he was down for some time, bleeding and the ref didn’t stop the game.
Not one to cry for a red card for these things. But I’m the current climate of VAR, red cards for intent etc it should at least have been reviewed. And should definitely have been a foul in a dangerous position.
Don’t get me started on the penalty at the other end.
As predicted. VAR is a load of Shiite. Spurs offside was disgraceful.

Re: Ashley’s Nose
Var is more of a waste of time than I thought it would be, totally pointless.

Re: Ashley’s Nose
VAR isn't there to second guess referees. If a free kick isn't awarded it cannot be reviewed as the referee is determined to have not seen it as an infringement. The Spurs offside is what the rules say - the guy was offside so it was called. It is black and white with not even a hint of grey.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Not one to cry for a red card for these things. Re: Ashley’s Nose
It wasn't as high as Westwood's at Brighton. But it was dangerous play and would have been a free kick anywhere else on the pitch. Good shout for a pen really.jdrobbo wrote:According to Chris Boden, who has access to a monitor, it was a high boot, worse than Westwood’s at Brighton.

Re: Ashley’s Nose
This is a referees conspiracy to get it done away with. Have they overturned a single decision yet?
I haven’t seen one but the number of obviously incorrect calls that have been allowed to stand is outrageous.
I’ve said for many years that refs decide the final table before the season starts and folk have laughed at me. I’m not far wrong.
They are law unto themselves.

That Sky bloke who sends you to sleep, Martin (?) made a very pertinent comment - "VAR takes away more than it gives".

Wrong. First game of season VAR was checking red card even when the game hadnt stopped.bfcmik wrote:VAR isn't there to second guess referees. Re: Ashley’s Nose
Wrong. The referee had seen the foul. If he asks the VAR team to review whether the foul merited a red card he cannot then award a yellow if the answer is no red card - and that is one of the stupidest of the new rules but doesn't seem to get the attention the black and white offside and handball rules get.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Wrong. Yes but it wasn't checked as it would've said on the screen checking red card....bfcmik wrote:Wrong. The referee had seen the foul.
