Villa one nil up; apparently.
Re: Today's Footy
When you look at the money United have spent over the last few years their squad is in a shocking state. Ed Woodward might be good at the commercial side of things but he's made an almighty mess of the football side.

Re: Today's Footy
Tough one at the Emirates. We don't really want Villa to get a confidence boosting win but we need to stay ahead of our Europa League spot rivals. A draw might be the best outcome.

Re: Today's Footy
And now Firmino makes it 2 to Liverpool
Re: Today's Footy
Chelski have a goal ruled out for offside and Liverpools Kloppites go up the other end and score to make it 2-0 away at Stamford Bridge

Can VAR run back an infinite number of offside 'phases' to find an offside?

Re: Today's Footy
Failing to hold a lead v 10 men will be a confidence blow for Villa (albeit away to a "big" team); more so than if they'd just lost narrowly to a full Arsenal XI (like we did a few weeks ago).
The pressure will be really on them next week, hope we can play positively like yesterday & take advantage of that.
They have an away League Cup game at Brighton midweek as well, I expect a lot of 1st teamers will be rested for that.
Bookies have Villa joint favourites with Newcastle for relegation now. (Oddly, IMO, Sheff U are 3rd favourites despite a fairly decent start to the season).

Re: Today's Footy
And we are 7th faves - wow! Every time I've looked we were in the top 3 for going down, so the bookies think we'll be fine. Which we will be if we're more consistent.LeadBelly wrote:Failing to hold a lead v 10 men will be a confidence blow for Villa (albeit away to a "big" team); more so than if they'd just lost narrowly to a full Arsenal XI (like we did a few weeks ago).

Re: Today's Footy
When the season started we were 2nd or 3rd favourites for the drop and stayed there despite the 3-0 opening result. We started "movin on up" lately with our last 2 results & several other clubs doing poorly.
I had a pre-season bet on Palace to go down because I thought they'd lose Zaha as well as Wab-Bissaka, not looking liks a good bet now.

Re: Today's Footy
Palace will be fine, I'm sure of it. Wolves SHOULD be far too good to go down, but look at Fulham - man for man they were a top 10 side, yet dropped like a hotpot (which I enjoyed), so who knows.LeadBelly wrote:When the season started we were 2nd or 3rd favourites for the drop and stayed there despite the 3-0 opening result. Wolves going down would be hilarious, but like I say - hope they go far in the Europa.
