Chelski v Liverpool with bitter Roy Keane

Post by claretnproud » Sun Sep 22, 2019 4:13 pm

I am looking forward to hearing Roy as much as watching the match. Great player but omg the lad has issues.

Great Player, meh Manager, gobshyte Pundit.

I’d prefer to listen to the entire Lighthouse Family back-catalogue than listen to this guy’s views on Football.

Think he's a marmite guy. I think he's great and you can tell he's controversial because that's how he is, not because he wants attention.

How he ‘is’ is attention seeking. He can’t p!ss out of the tent anymore, so he’s content to stand outside, p!ssing in.

Says it like he thinks it is and is generally wrong.

Was once in a fishing tackle shop in Nottingham and Brian Clough came in, I seem to remember he was after maggots for his Koi Carp. We had a bit of a natter and he said he sold Keane to United because he was sending him on loan to Burnley and he refused to go.

Was Brian having one of "those" days?

Ha ha, who can say. He did seem to be fairly lucid. He said he'd take me for a pint but the pubs weren't open at 10 am back then.

Keane had a very good career with Forest (despite the odd fracas with Clough), doubt they were ever seriously looking to loan him out.

He nearly got sold to Rovers of course but something went wrong with the paperwork and Fergie stepped in. A terrific player to have on your side but no great shakes as a pundit (and it's not like the competition is huge there).

It wasn't long after he'd gone to Utd, just months. Clough said it was 'A punishment'.

So Fergies PL ManU or Jimmy Mullens 4th tier Clarets and your career is on the up. I think I might have signed forManU.

I sense that people dislike him and it has nothing to do with what he says, but how he's acted when he was a player. Look at the wimps we have as pundits on TV now - they're careful of what they say and it's almost rehearsed. Look at Jamie Redknapp - I don't think he's ever said anything that's informative and makes you nod your head in agreement. Keane says things and you think, "He must be a massive b*llend!" - but he's right. He says what everybody else is too frightened to say.

Whether he's correct or not is often down to an opinion, which is why he's not everybody's cup of tea. I think he's made post match analysis actually worth watching.
