Old Longside song.....anyone remember?
Sorry if I’ve asked this before, but can anyone remember the song that contained....
“And when they come - we shall not run”
“And do they smell - like ******* hell”
Cant for the life of me remember where it came from. Was it on the fast clapping bit of YNWA?
Thank you.

More like an old cricket-field end song.
Bits I remember..... (As mentioned, Jim Reeves popular tune)......
I hear the sound.... of distant bums
Over there, over there (make gestures towards away fans)
And do they smell?
Like f****** hell

Whatever it was, it's got to be better than the dirge tune of 'ring of fire' that we were subjected to on Saturday.Longside4evr wrote:I thought it was sung with it starting

The song was:
I hear the sound of distant bums
Over there, over,
And do they smell, like f.cking hell,
Over there, over there.
To the tune of Jim Reeves Distant Drums.
I don't remember it being sung on the Cricketfield End terraces, though I clearly remember it being sung when we had the fence and nets separating the home fans and the away fans.

Longside songs from the late 60's / early 70's
Six foot two, eyes of blue...
Tiptoe through the longside...
We don't carry bottles...
He's here, he's there...
(We're not allowed to swear)
Bertie Mee said to Bill Shankly...
If I had the wings of an angel...
Celtic, Rangers, Celtic, Rangers...
(I never understood that one until informed that it was Catholics v Protestants)
Any others?

Bring on Sunderland & Arsenal
Bring on scousers by the score
Barcelona, Real Madrid - they all made a gallant bid
But Burnley are the team we all adore!

Makes you wonder what has gone on in the CFS last season or so . Seemed to start ok with a bit of early racket but later last season and this is beyond dire . It’s s shame that even staples like “Lancashire homes” “ keep the claret flag flying “ etc are becoming a rarity . The ground really needs the “ singers “ in the long side do you get the ripple running down the ground rather than that isolated CFS pocket .

His Face is all tattered and torn
He made me feel sick

Daisy daisy, give me your answer do,
I'm half crazy, all for the love of you,
It won't be a stylish marriage,
I can't afford a carriage,
But you'll look sweet,
Upon the seat,
Of a bicycle made for,
2,4,6,8,
Who do we appreciate ?
B-U-R-N-L-E-Y,
Burnley.

Minutes pause

Re: Old Longside song.....anyone remember?
I know that we have wandered off piste on this one but maybe that's OK as it gives us a chance to look back and think about the brilliant times that being a football fan has given us. From 1963 onwards, I was taking my young cousin to matches ( I was 14 and he was 11). We went on the corporation bus from Haslingden and having been released from the yoke of adult supervision, headed for behind the CF end goal, then, the rowdiest part of the ground. All the way there we discussed which songs would be sung by the older lads. I wonder if anyone remembers this one:
Aye aye aye aye
Thomson is better than Yashin.
Harris is better than Eusebio
And Stoke are in for a thrashing!
This was sung to the tune of Alma Cogan's 1957 hit "You, me and us".

We're on the march with Harry's army,
we're going to division one,
and we'll really shake em up, when we win the F.A. cup,
cos Burnley are the greatest football team.
Under Harry Potts management, unfortunely we didn't win the F.A. cup or get promoted that year.
