Re: Poch
Stoke have 4 wins in 31 games since Nathan Jones was appointed, with that squad they should be doing far better,it's strange as he did a great job at Luton, you have to wonder if he can handle some of the big names in the Stoke squad.Blackrod wrote:Or Nathan Jones. Re: Poch
Would be ludicrous for him to go. Even if they have a bad season.
Overall has been excellent for Spurs and did remarkable to take them to that final last season.
They should push on. And they should invest in another striker. But hes still a good manager for spurs.

That said, Trippier who probably has as good an attitude as anyone was outcast. So who knows.
I like Pochettino. He is diplomatic when he needs to be. And has refused to blame VAR or refs for any bad decisions.

Re: Poch
Of the so called Top 6 Poch has been the best manager over the last few years - despite their situation with stadium etc.
Can see him going to Real / Barca / PSG if their board nudge him or don't back him with eye watering funds. He wants more and will get it or move.
That said I'd love us to beat them comprehensively and speed the process.. .
Over the years many managers seem to exit after being beaten by us.

Re: Poch
Always bound to happen at some point. To be where they are is incredible. They have spent very little in getting from a similar position like ourselves to being regarded as a top club. The main problem is they won’t pay mega money and they certainly ain’t big enough to keep players who perform.

He really does need to win something like a cup to keep the fans happy, the new stadium is amazing and his teams play pretty good stuff probably needs a clear out of players with attitude problems

One of the best managers the Premier League has seen in the last 10 years.
3 points off 3rd. A joke if anybody thinks he should be sacked.

Re: Poch
Its gone very stale at Spurs. Poch is still a good manager but i think the milk has turned there so might be best for all concerned to move on.
He wont be out of work for long if he does leave, as surely Real or Man Utd would then make a move.

Part of me thinks that he is seeing the mess that OGS is making at Utd and he's engineering a way to be available this time when Utd come calling. He wouldn't mind being out of work for 6 months if the right job came upZizkovClaret wrote:Its gone very stale at Spurs. You missed out words such as think and deluded in that post.....my guess is you are not being seriousAlargeClaret wrote:Half of this board could have equalled the achievements of Pocahontas with that sort of player pool
He’s done an amazing job at Spurs - as he did at Southampton. To me clearly he is one of the top 10 managers in the world at the moment.
That said there is definitely “trouble at mill” down at the Lane. And it looks like Poch is at the heart of a lot of this trouble. The dressing room is split and there are a number of unhappy senior players - which is never good. Eriksen and Vertonghen being unhappy is massive - with Harry Kane they were probably the most important and influential players in last couple of seasons.
All this maybe down to Poch but could also be down to Daniel Levy and his reputation for not paying the kind of wages you see at other top 6 clubs.
Poch has said some pretty strange things about his position in the last 2 or 3 years - like leaving if they won the CL or not being able to take the club any further without major change....meeting with his close friend Sir Alex... not signing a contract then signing a big new long terms contract but still the same rumblings come out of him about leaving.
I can see him leaving soon and would not be surprised to see him at Old Trafford by Christmas.

Re: Poch
The players want out because the Chairman won’t fund improvement. Because of this they will only be runners-up and good players want winners medals.
Poch can leave with his head high and a big job awaits. Aside of all that he has still never won a trophy.
If he goes Kane will be next out the door.

Top players moving into the last year of their contract is never a good sign and something that you wouldn’t expect from Levy of all people. There’s something not right there. As for the likes of Rose moaning on all the time for whatever reason, if you don’t like being a professional athlete on millions of pounds per annum just retire and stop moaning ffs....

Re: Poch
I was talking about their climb over the past 2 decades rather than just what poch has done. Almost every manager has improved them and he has took them to a position of being talked about as title contenders. To now being where they are and what they have done over the past 5 years with poch and being criticised is stupid imo. He’s spent nowt compared to the rest. Spurs generally over the past 15/20 years have spent nowt from getting mid table to where they are. To now be in a position to be pretty much even or if not better than Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd is incredible.Devils_Advocate wrote:Don't be so thick. I agree with you but just thought you were talking about Poch at Spurs specifically. I was just bemused why someone brought Burnley being in the 4th Division into it but if that was the comparison you were alluding to then it was me being the thick donkey after allDyched wrote:I was talking about their climb over the past 2 decades rather than just what poch has done. Re: Poch
Spurs have three big players out of contract at the end of this season. Alderweild, Vertonghen and Eriksen are all big players and replacing them is impossible for Spurs. By that I mean they will not be able to sign like for like. Poch has succeeded at Spurs because he has slowly developed good players into exceptional players. When your two main centre backs need replacing, Rose is just trouble and the right back position is still needing to be sorted as Walker Peters isnt ready yet, Trips has gone and Aurier is not wanted. Wanyama has gone, Dembele has gone and been replaced by Tsombele(?) Who looks good but is hit and miss at the moment but will be class. Alli isnt the player he was 2 years ago and is struggling to.live up to his hype.
Poch knows Spurs is a massive rebuilding job and I dont think he wants to rebuild another side at Spurs with all the financial restrictions which most other top clubs dont have. 100% he will not be the Spurs manager next season

Re: Poch
Agree with Cleveleys.
Poch has done an excellent job at Spurs over the past few years, especially against a backdrop of the new stadium move/delays. Getting 8th at Southampton was a fine achievement too. However, it really looks like the peak has now been passed with the team he's built up at Spurs. Players getting out of contract and/or wanting to leave has really hit them + loss of form of Alli/Dier etc.
It's difficult to see how he can motivate himself to pick them back up/rebuild when he will have other bigger clubs (with more cash to splash) courting his services.
It might end up worse than just losing a manager for Spurs, Kane may well leg it if Poch, Eriksen, CBs etc leave- plenty of bigger clubs that Spurs would love Harry.

And add to the total rebuilding of the back 4 is the worry of Lloris decline over the last 2 seasons and there is requirement for a whole back 5 bar Sanchez who is growing into a class player and has shown why they paid upwards of 40 million for him at 19LeadBelly wrote:Agree with Cleveleys.

Probably anyone. Knowing he takes knocks and gets injured. Look at Adrian at Liverpool. Even less chance of playing yet he could end up with a league winners medal at this rate.Jakubs Tash wrote:Who would want to sign for Spurs and sit on the bench? The big problem for Spurs is their central defenders who played out of their skin for so long, aren't as good anymore.
