Surprising that Jeff stands second after so few starts

Perhaps thats an indication of how well he has played when starting ;)

Only been seven games in total. You can get up there with a couple of good performances but as the season progresses it will always be the consistent performers who get in the top group.

Apart from giving the ball away once, Hendrick was superb. Yet every time the starting line-up comes out you always get someone complaining that he's picked.

He did give the ball away and it could have been disastrous. Hendrick's only mistake all afternoon.

Hendrick also picked up his 100 club award on Saturday for his 100th apps in the Premier League the weekend before ....

Exactly my point. I think he is underrated and improving

He's not underrated, he's been judged on what he has done previously.

He definitely improved for this game and the part he played at Brighton.

He is trying to influence the game at last.

Good news for us and him as it improves his chances of another contract or club.

I thought Hendrick was superb against Narch but, (yes there's a but).
He has quite close ball control and can take players on so why not get in the box more often and maybe create an opportunity for himself or others, or at least draw a foul for a possible penalty.
Go on lad, don't be shy.

Go on lad, don't be shy.
Maybe there's an obvious answer to that JT.

The same reason that Cork or Westwood rarely get into the box, they are playing to Dyche's strict instructions.

He has been judged on exactly that, but people forget he's been asked to operate in a position and role that he is totally unsuited to and unfamiliar with. Fortunately, we are no longer trying to force that square peg into a round hole.

He definitely improved for this game and the part he played at Brighton. I see a longer period of improvement than that.

He is trying to influence the game at last. I think he has ALWAYS tried to influence the game, see point one for the reason it hasn't always been the case.

Good news for us and him as it improves his chances of another contract or club.Great news for all concerned. Playing well enough to keep the place, and he deserves it. Delighted for him, and us.

Maybe, but I recall one incident in the first half where he jinked his way into the penalty area then promptly jinked his way out again and I'm thinking 'Why didn't you keep going Jeff, draw a foul?'

Very hard to argue against a lad who gets two goals after a barren spell, but Jeff was quite superb, so he got my vote.

I saw that. Incidentally, when was the last time we saw an opposition player carry the ball OUT of our area once inside it and in possession?

We have slightly different opinions but I'm so glad he is starting to impact games.

He played really well in the "No10" position. Plenty of posters didn't like him there, though.
I think he's a fine player, hope he extends his stay with us.

And that was when we were right up there in the league. He had already had a really good first season with us before that.

He didn’t play really well in the number 10 position. He just didn’t. Loads of people saw that was the case and only the most heavily tinted claret spectacles would suggest otherwise. He worked hard, he always does, but he was ineffective there. Game after game of ineffectiveness showed that.

Yeah we were right up there at the time, but at the time we were an unknown quantity and as such we caught teams on the hop.

Hendricks role during that great season and the position we ended up in is something I don’t really believe in.... a coincidence. If it wasn’t, and his role in the way we played was the primary reason we did so well, surely we should be now asking why we changed? No one in their right mind would change that formula surely?

Anyway, as I said, Hendrick deserves another contract, and I hope he gets one.

Was our second season back, not the first, and I’m sure we were no unknown quantity. For what it’s worth I though Hendrick did. play well in that role. Why did we change? Different personnel for a start and the system suited the midfield pair of Defour & Cork.

Don’t know what his contract situation is. Only signed an extension last season but he knows how unpopular he is with the Burnley fans so it could be he’d prefer to find another club. I really hope not.

It wasn't just a number of Claret-tinted spectacled fans who could see JH's worth to the side.

I hope not too. I know he doesn’t get much slack from a few sections of the crowd but he rightfully got the plaudits after being subbed on Saturday. I’m in the CFS and there’s only the odd groan from the odd fan but even so it’s too much for a player who is crucial to the team and squad.

Disappointed to learn he’s aware that there are elements who aren’t happy with him.
