Yep there is a warm invitation to attend the official opening. There may even be choc biscuits and ginger nuts (are we allowed to say that these days. Mike's video will be given its first screening and with Mike a member of the Burnley filmmaker's group, it is superbly professional. He has uncovered rare footage of owld Bob. A number of players have been invited but as ever you never quite know who will be there. A lot of work has gone into this so please help us give it a good opening. let me know at beehive thomas at a o l dot com

How long does it run ?
Really fancy this. I remember his final years, he was like a God sitting in the Centre of the Bob Lord. You got the impression the whole ground would shake if he lost his temper, even as an old man. Has more than his fair share of critics ( and often deserved) but not much got to stand in his way when it came to his club. He gave journalists stories to dine out on for the rest of their lives. I’ve heard a few over the years mention they were proud members of the Banned by Bob club.

The Bradford and Bingley Building Society brought out some corporate ties for staff and a few local journalists at the time, Keith McNee springs immediately to mind, clamoured to get their hands on one -- their "club" called them Banned By Bob ties..... :D

Not Keith, it was Don Smith at the Burnley Express and he was forced to report games from the terracing having been refused press facilities. There were others too, they all used to meet up at the Cricketers pub on Anne Street.

Match photographer Howard Talbot told me the story of when The photographers changed ends at half time to film behind the goals, Lord told them not to walk in front of the BobLord stand, and instead walk round the pitch the longest way round, via the Longside as Lord said it impeded his view.

I would have liked to be at the official opening this morning but work prevents.

I hope someone reports back on the days events and former players attending.

Good look today and best wishes to Mike Smith and Dave Thomas!

Raise a glass to Lord Burnley! :)

Attended the opening this morning along with director Barry Kilby and former players Colin Waldron, Martin Dobson, Paul Fletcher and Jim Thomson.

It's worth a visit and just as a flavour there are three photographs below, the second of which is a letter he sent as chairman of Burnley Football Club.

I’ll post ‘Bob Lord The Movie’ starring Bob Lord playing himself on YouTube soon for those who can’t get to TOWNELEY.
