Follow the waste pipe on the washing machine.
You might get lucky and it take you to the pub.

Re: Plumbing/washing machine.
It shouldn't be possible.
Water from the taps could end up in the washer if the washer drain hose is positioned below the trap, but the water from the washer can't end up in the sink....gravity won't allow it.
Anyway, you need a loop in your washer drain hose that takes it above the level of the trap under your sink. Screw a plastic horseshoe, or just a hook or whatever to the underside of your work top and feed the hose through that.

Re: Plumbing/washing machine.
Thanks for that QT. it's as I was as I was thinking the waste from machine to sink....it appeared to be in a figure of 8 loop so waters not escaping properly. Got washer out doing a short cycle with waste pipe a bit more un looped.so far so good .thanks for info if I fail..... nope dirty water entered into sink!!!! And back into washer.Quickenthetempo wrote:Here you go Tim

Re: Plumbing/washing machine.
Do you live in a house of flat?
I live in a flat and the waste washing machine water is plumbed into the sink outlet just before the U bend. It then goes round the U bend and exits through the sink drain pipe and into the communal stack.
After fifty years, the end of the waste pipe into the stack was becoming blocked and water did not run away so quickly. Using the washing machine, waste water would build up in the sink but drain away eventually. I used 'One Shot' (Sulphuric Acid) once or twice which had some effect but did not complete the clearance.
I got fed up with this so got a plumber to cut a piece from the waste pipe by the stack, make sure it was all clear, then add a 'T' piece with an unscrewable cap. With this I can occasionally bend a suitable pipe cleaner into the waste pipe exit to make sure it stays clear.
I've had no problems since.

Re: Plumbing/washing machine.
How far down the pipe have you checked? It could be quite a way through. You may need something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-656 ... B000LFVEQ8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;tim_noone wrote:We can't find the source of the /any blockage...

Re: Plumbing/washing machine.
Thanks....The problem appears to be the washing machine waste pipe. Now empty and awaiting to be dispatched! Water now flowing freely on emptying sink.cheers All.aggi wrote:How far down the pipe have you checked? It could be quite a way through. Re: Plumbing/washing machine.
For six quid 'one shot' drain unblocker is at least worth a try. (I thought it had been banned to the general public from 2018, but a quick search suggests it's still available online, although B&Q seem to have stopped selling it.)
Bit late with the advice, by the looks of it.
