If you won the euro millions would you buy a football club.....
Not played the lottery in years but seen the news today that the Euro Millions has rolled over and will be nearly 200 million on Tuesday.
Got me thinking if I did buy a ticket and win that amount of money what would I do with the it....
Barring the obvious making sure my friends and family were financially secure (that’s only 1 million needed at the most)
One thought would be buy a small club and build it up bit like my own championship manager or football manager as it’s called now for the younger generation...
Now I know that would be literally throwing money away but run properly as a business model might work out as a fun investment...
Ok if I did win it I would put £10 in a envelope and stick it to every home seat at the next game too

Absolutely not.
I don’t think I’d watch another second of football tbh if I won that.

I'd give the club £50m, on the promise they used it on players and didn't put it in the dry powder store.

Absolutely no flipping chance.
You only have to see the whoppers on here during transfer windows or when the team is struggling to know that no matter what you do it wouldn't be appreciated.
Some football fans have memories so short you've honestly got to wonder if they're related to goldfish.
I'd put my money into owning a chain of garage workshops instead.

The best way to make a million out of a football club is to start off with 50 million.

I was actually talking about this last week with some mates, it would be ace to buy a club if you won that money I don't think you'd view it as an investment though as it's probably more akin to throwing money in a black hole for most.Texanclaret16 wrote:Not played the lottery in years but seen the news today that the Euro Millions has rolled over and will be nearly 200 million on Tuesday.

The former Palace owner said if you want to make a small fortune start of with a large one and buy a football club.

If I won that kind of insane money I would quite happily inject £40 or £50m to buy a lifelong seat on the board of BFC. Would be the ultimate passionate pastime/interest . Based on the OP this would still leave me , and my family, with more money than we could ever spend, charitable donations aside.

Because I don’t need £200m and, aside from family, the club is my biggest pleasure.tarkys_ears wrote:Why?

If I did win £200m I reckon I’d most likely give 90% of it away. But not to professional footballers.

Yes.
And I’d employ Barry Kilby to run it.
And Sean dyche to manage it.
And then I’d win the ECL.

I'd use the £200m to put down a deposit on a Twix.
