Tyrone Mings

Post by burnleymik » Sat Sep 28, 2019 9:46 pm

Wondering how he avoided a yellow, at least, today?

Everytime the ball went anywhere near him he was literally climbing on the back of a Burnley player. Did it numerous times to Barnsey and Wood. Ref just completely turned a blind eye. It wasn't just once or twice is was almost every aerial ball that came in.

Tbf Lee Mason is registered blind.
When you add that to the fact he hates Burnley, he’s from Bolton and he’s a sh-ite referee I think we are lucky to be going back on the M6 with a point in our back sack.

Gareth Southgate obviously rates him higher than James Tarkowski

That is absolutely astonishing. Not a patch on Tarks. He looks comfortable on the ball, but any decent ref has him in the book within the first ten mins of the game.

Have to disagree. He is a competent and mobile centre half and will improve. Good distribution

Spent most of the game fouling. When given a ball to control he failed. He’s big but that doesn’t make you an international centre back

As a centre back you have to stand your ground. When someone like Barnes is constantly backing into you looking for free kicks what is he supposed to do, move out of the way?

Plenty of defenders deal with them without climbing all over them at every opportunity. My issue is that the ref refused to deal with the constant fouls from him.

Got away with plenty of fouls but that’s the refs fault not his.
Agree with your comments, looked like a leader and not scared to take the ball forward.

Claret tinted specs on full show here.

He was a mixed bag today. A bit tenacious and he can dive in/climb on and did several times but he's good with the ball at his feet and a giant in the air. We'd love him if he played for us.

By all accounts was outstanding with Villa in the Championship and he will be well worth what they paid for him - an English centre half is always going to be a couple of good seasons away from a massive move, ie Maguire.

If we are looking at Villa players for being poor, a waste of money and a general cheat then we need look no further than Wesley.

Mings is a poor man's Jolean Lescott also.

I didn't think he was great today but if Tarks is worth £45m he's worth £20m.

Talked to a few different villa fans and they all said that they wouldn't have gone up without Ming's and today was his worst match this season

Thought mings battle with woods and barnes today was what football should be about personal battles and all seemed to enjoy it, have a moan but get on with it instead of players going down far too easy which pisses everyone off. None of them are gifted but 100% players.

Looks good in spells. Equally looked like an accident waiting to happen. Reminds me of Tarks a season ago.

Comparing him and Tarks today, no way Mings should be getting the international mod ahead of him.

Can’t control his own body, and not sure how anyone can say his distribution was good. At one point in the second half he ran forward about 20 yards with the ball and then just passed it straight out of play under no pressure. Tarkowski is miles better.

What happened with Tarkowski and Mings in the corner near the end?

From what I saw Tarks was shepherding it out and Mings absolutely clattered him. Like Jay Rod he was completely out of control and lucky not to have been sent off. It was also fortunate that neither player was injured.

How Mings can be selected in an England squad ahead of Tarks has to be one of football's great mysteries? :?
